SEE THIS HOUSE: A HUGE HAMPTONS HIDEAWAY!

August 17, 2010

Exterior of a Hamptons home, pool and guest house

Okay…so I just got back from a fab weekend in NY visiting friends (AM, JE and AR), seeing my cousin ES for a brief blip and going to the NY International Gift Fair. Lots of fun!

Am confused though…have been invited back to New York for this coming weekend for a stay in East Hampton and clambake on the beach. Sounds so enticing…but the question is do I have the energy to get back on a plane on Friday late night, get on the Jitney on Saturday morning and then return on Sunday. Hmmmm….the idea of a clambake is so intriguing…the idea of 16 hours of door-to-door travel for an overnight stay in the Hamptons is not so intriguing. Any thoughts? What would you do? Be jet setting or stay home (when I put it in those terms…jet setting of course sounds more interesting)?

Anyhooo…because I think I’m leaning towards not going…I thought I would pay homage to the Hamptons by showing off a lovely Water Mill Hamptons home.

My favorite room is the two story living room. I love the fact that it looks great from ground level and from a birds eye view from the hallway up above. I also love the touches like the orange mirror frame in the all white bathroom. And, the pool and the teak outdoor dining area isn’t so bad either!

Hope you have a great Tuesday…please let me know if I should get on a plane or not for the Hamptons??

Go girl…you can always stay home-the travel may be long but the invite is worth the hardship. Love your posts wishing you a great week(&trip to Hamptons)

I say go for it! I just did a similar trip and it was well worth it. Nothing is better than the Hamptons in the summertime.

Looks like a version of the Eames plastic molded chair. Here is a website featuring similar…

Definitely go! Every time I fight my laziness and go on a trip even when I don’t feel like, I never regret it. Especially when that trip involves being at the beach with good friends!

And I love the unexpected pops of orange and purple throughout this house..especially in the living room!

I am a total sucker for ceiling beams. There is so much beautiful woodwork in that home. The brickwork on the fireplace that goes completely up to the high ceiling has a classic look that is a favorite for me too. A wonderful home.

If i were you i probably wouldn’t go, whilst longing to be there! If you have got the money for it not to make too much difference to your bank balance, i’d say go for it! Its such a fun spontaneous thing to do 🙂

I love these spaces, especially the first one, its open and airy whilst being warm and cosy and homely at the same time, i love all the lighting in the kitchen and dining room, the boys bedroom is really cool, i love all the colour choices. Like the living room, all the other spaces feel airy (white walls and bedding), but have got personality and warmth added through the colour and accessories. The white really makes everything else POP.

You should have come – it was a super fun weekend and we missed you! Love the blue / brown flower print on the chairs – what is it?

Gosh–that first shot (outside) reminds of the “countess” place from the Real Housewives of NY. At least I think it was hers..or perhaps “Bethenny” (from her own show) may have stayed at a place that looked just like this. Maybe they all resemble this look?? I think it was the countess, though. Hmm.
