Happy New Year! How are things going on this 2nd day of 2012?
Well I am just as cheerful as ever as I have the day off!
Thought I would bring you a dream home this first Monday of the year…so here’s today’s SEE THIS HOUSE!
I love Santa Barbara. On one of my visits to the hillsides there years and years ago…when over looking the ocean and all of the homes cascading down the hill, I remember uttering to myself “paradise…this is paradise”.
So I haven’t been to Santa Barbara in a few years actually even though it is just over 2 hours from Los Angeles. Need to put a visit there on my 2012 to do list.
Anyhoooo….here’s a Santa Barbara home for you!
Listed for $7.95 million by Sotheby’s International Realty, the home sits on over 3 acres in Hope Ranch an unincorporated community just outside the town of Santa Barbara – up in the hills. This Mediterranean estate combines all things Spanish and Moorish with a little rustic thrown in. 10,000 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 6 baths, 3 partial baths, a pool and so much more. The dramatic foyer with its glass cathedral ceiling and curved iron staircase, formal living, formal dining room, gourmet kitchen, 2 offices, an art gallery, 6 fireplaces, 3-car garage, wine cellar, maids living area. Upper level has large master suite w/sitting rm, 2 bedrooms, gyms, pool with guest house…all truly make for a complete estate!
I would take it a heart beat. Switch out some of the furnishings…and make it home. Where are the moving trucks?
Oh did I mention the gorgeous ocean view? Panaromic ocean views from almost every room…yep.
A stunning glass cathedral ceiling from the second floor landing with its Moorish ironwork railing and herringbone wood floors. (above) |
Exposed ceiling beams in the living room add a rustic cozy feel to this expansive home. (above) |
The Carara marble master bath. (above) |
Here’s that ocean view I forgot to mention! (above) |
Okay…so I would probably fix up the kitchen area by changing out that little dining area furniture, would definitely take all of that big furniture out of the master bath…and I would COCOCOZY the living room with a mix of some sleek modern pieces and some antiques all with cleaner lines. Otherwise, I’m totally down with the bones of this place.
What do you think? Would you take it or leave it? What changes might you incorporate to make it your own?
Happy Monday! Happy 2012!
xo

P.S. Keep on having weird dreams about the New York International Gift Fair…where I’ll be showing the COCOCOZY textiles collection at the end of the month. Last night I dreamt that I got there and there was no booth, hardly any COCOCOZY textiles and total confusion on the opening day of the show. Oh dear…the things I worry about…help!
P.P.S. It is another gorgeous day here in Southern California. Getting outdoors for another hike with friend AT who is visiting from London.
This house is perfection! I do agree with you that the table in the eating area is a little off and the big chair in the bathroom has to go but overall this is just beautiful.
Happy New Year! I always love a little peek into these types of home. And what a vista! The Moorish iron railings are just so pretty too.
I love the all white (as usual)! The kitchen table is adorable and a little rustic which was unexpected in this style home. The bathroom sinks are a dream of mine….love them!
OMG!! This is House!!

I love the iron railings, the herringbone wood floors, and the marble master bath. I would also ditch most of the furniture, and add some serious color. But with that view? If you’re planning to gift the estate to me, I’ll not complain… 🙂
So luxurious!
Oh this bathroom is amazing!!!!!

Buenos Dias. Muchas Gracias!
Atentamente, Felix … 🙂
Holy cow! This home is gorg! Thanks for sharing.
