SEE THIS HOUSE: BARN RAISING STYLE!

Foyer in a repurposed barn home with capiz shell globe pendant light, striped rug, tufted leather bench, two white arm chairs facing a window

Okay…is it weird that I love a great repurposed barn?  I just do.  I’ve been featuring a lot of transformed barns lately for no apparent reason except that I’m totally drawn to them.  Hmmmm…

Anyhoooo…love this Canadian barn that was moved Connecticut and then remodeled into a fantastic living space.  An imported barn where modern meets rustic and does so beautifully.  I think I love the high ceilings in most of these barns…or maybe it is just the rough hewn touches that I find so appealing.  Take a look!

Living room with hide rug, club chairs, fireplace with a steel mantel and flagstone chimney and a bench with a light brown cushion and matching accent pillows
A hide rug and sleek club chairs make for a perfect sitting area in front of the main living room’s fireplace with its steel mantel and flagstone chimney. (above)
Rustic dining room in a converted barn with wood floors, flagstone fireplace, long wood table, and simple chandelier
Kitchen with wide plank wood floors, exposed beam ceiling, zinc counter tops, marble mosaic backsplash in Shaker style kitchen
Wide plank wood floors and exposed beam ceilings nicely contrast with the modern zinc counter tops and the marble mosaic backsplash in the home’s stylish Shaker style kitchen. (above)
Master bathroom with modern stand alone tub, stone floors, exposed beams and reclaimed wood cabinets and drawers
Bedroom with woven rocking chairs, canopy bed, open shelving with baskets, reclaimed wood floors and matching ceiling and exposed beams
The woven rocking chairs and the canopy bed all hint to a simple Shaker style that is seen throughout the home. Love the open shelving with baskets too. (above)
Guest house with large picture windows, neutral sofa, wood coffee table, and leather chairs
The guest house is bright, light and airy! (above)

So the question is…would you take this barn house or leave it?  I would take take take!

Happy Monday!

Lovely, but a little over-renovated for my taste. I would have left more original, rustic features….

I’ll take it in a flash. My house is a former stable, but lacking the soaring ceiling. Would move in any day.

I love this style, and am glad that you’re drawn to so much rusticity lately too. The first photo has long been a favorite of mine, but I’ve never seen the rest of the house. Great post!

If I won the lottery, I would totally buy an old barn and make it a home. I love old barns! So much character.

I have always loved a transformed barn; the open space, the rustic qualities, the repurposing of something old. . . It’s just all-around awesome! And this one is particularly gorgeous. Total dream home.

The best tables are the ones that invite people toThe best tables are the ones that invite people to sit down, stay awhile, and make memories. ✨
These are a few tablescapes I’ve created in my dining room, each one layered with pieces I love and little details that make the table feel special.
Mix your favorite plates, layer soft linens, add fresh flowers or greenery, and light a few candles. There’s no one right way to set a beautiful table. It should feel collected, welcoming, and uniquely yours.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎

Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive.Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive. 🌸
One thing I’ve learned is that every outdoor space needs a focal point. It gives your eye a place to land and makes the whole space feel more intentional.
In this courtyard, the bougainvillea naturally becomes that focal point, adding color, height, and movement without overwhelming the space.
If you’re designing your own patio or garden, start with one standout feature, then let everything else support it.
Save this tip for your next outdoor project. ✨

Design by @covetnoir. A 1750 Georgian home in Surr Design by @covetnoir. A 1750 Georgian home in Surrey, restored back to its former grandeur.
Grade II listed and stripped of most of its original character by previous owners, this 9,000 sqft home with seven bedrooms, and five bathrooms was brought back to life for a French-Swedish couple raising two young kids here. The brief: Parisian luxe with a Scandinavian twist, and a design calm enough to keep the grand proportions feeling intimate.
Covet Noir rebuilt what had been lost: full plasterwork, raised & fielded panels, a bespoke decorative ceiling, and added a cantilevered limestone staircase with Nero Marquina cabochon inlay in the entrance hall. The material palette leans into marble and alabaster, softened with boucle and brushed cottons, chosen to hold up to two kids and two dogs without losing the elegance. Antique furniture and architectural fittings were sourced throughout to keep the project sustainable, alongside ground source heating.
Grand bones, calm hand. This is the kind of restoration we could look at all day. 🤍
