SEE THIS HOUSE: BUYING INTO PALM BEACH AT $42 MILLION!

September 10, 2010
  • Share

7 bedrooms, 8 full baths, 5 half baths, water views and 13,278 square feet…a grand home in posh Palm Beach, Florida. All of that for $42.5 million!

Huh…$42.5 million…I am speechless. I wish I had an extra $42 let alone $42.5 million. Again…I am speechless.

Okay…just got my voice and words back…let’s see is there anything I like about this home? Not at all my style but here goes…I know I can find something I like here…I like the views of the Intercoastal waterways, I like the lanai, I like the pavers in the driveway and lining the pool, I like the pool, I like the exterior facade (front and back), I like the second floor outdoor balcony, and I like the arched doorways and windows. I don’t know what style the home is architecturally but it is new…built in 2008.

What do you think? Take a look…

Okay…just figured it out…wasn’t sure I liked it at all…now, I’m thinking this house does have some potential. Never have thought about living in Palm Beach but this could be my winter vacation home – place to get away from the chilly winters here in my small cottage in the Hollywood Hills (LOL!)!

I would make some big and major changes to the decor…the interior design needs a lot of work in my opinion – I would immediately get rid of all that wall-to-wall carpet in the bedrooms, I would redo the kitchen, take out the scrolly ironwork stuff on the arched front doors, get rid of that stone thing above the living room fireplace, stain the paneled library walls a rich dark color wood so it felt like a real library, change all of the furnishings (except for the lucite table in the living room). I would give the home a design point of view and then use it as a vacation home…yes…January to February (two months out of the year) in Palm Beach. I wonder if that is high social season there. I wonder who my neighbors would be…?

You?

Happy Friday!

I just saved myself 42 mil since I dont like Palm Beach style or Florida for that matter. But I must say those outdoor rooms are mighty nice. Too opulent, fussy and arrogant for my California bones.

Wow – I enjoyed getting a virtual tour of this house! I have never been to Palm Beach, but have heard a lot about the over the top decor and real estate.

That house has some great lighting, and the Rose Tarlow bed in the master is really beautiful. But – it’s a bit big for me – I like the rooms to feel good, but not be too big. Still, there are some beautiful details in this house.

The pool and the view YES!!!!

As to the rest, not my style. The curtains annoyed me though, if you have that much money surely they could have spent the extra little bit to put another inch on the length! Or is that my old fashioned ways showing Curtains should always fold onto the floor!!!!

If i only had the 42 millions…i certainly would not spend it on this house…so overdone, fussy…as you I am speechless about the price tag…just imagine what one could do with that money, let alone the… cost of carrying the house…let’s see, I could have a small chateau in the South of France, a pied a terre in paris and New York , a ski house and carry my favorie foundation for quite a few years…..

If someone can afford that asking price then they can afford a real interior designer. Good bones but needs ALOT of help! Gorgeous home…you would think the architect would know a good designer or the real estate agent would know one too.
The interior doesn’t do that house justice.

Wow to think that someone has that kind of cash laying around in this economic climate. Phew! And I am worried about buying groceries. I must admit the design is impeccable and the grounds amazing!

I think the house has amazing potential…but the decor is a little less than desirable…well a lot less…

The outdoors are totally awesome, interior not at all, does the 42.5 million price tag include the furniture? if so, I would say you can take the furniture with you and I will take a discount on the price.

Mish-mash of styles by someone with more money than sense – for that money I’d want to be right on the beach proper, not a canal ..

Amazing! Where in Palm Beach is this residence? It is fabulous! I love the orange chairs in the living room.

I would happily live in this space!

This house is my favorite thing on the whole cococozy site. I loved it! I would also happily live there. I love the warmth it exudes, despite the size. The detail and colors are lovely, in my opinion, and I especially love the doors. I can appreciate contemporary and minimalist, but to me it seems a bit cold and it has no soul. I love everything about this house. More, please!

Having lived in Palm Beach County in the mid 90’s, I can attest that the view is as stunning as it seems here. It is like living in a postcard.
I think as a showhouse it is beautiful. It has more of a museum-ish feel though – like no one actually lives there. I can’t imaging casually curling up on one of those couches and reading a book at night. I would feel like I had to be “dressed for dinner” all the time.
