WEEKEND PHOTO: MANTEL MELANGE!

September 12, 2010
  • Share

Mantel with distressed painted wood frame mirror, deer skull and candlesticks
A mix of romantic, coastal, shabby chic and lodge styles all come together in one fireplace mantel vignette – with its distressed painted wood framed mirror, a deer skull with antlers, white Victorian candlesticks and faux finish wall with a bird mural painted, several styles are blended together.(above)

I took this photo about three months ago on morning stroll before brunch in Venice. I’ll do a post on the store where I found this cute vignette later (or some day – giving myself time to procrastinate even more)! I love the distressed mirror frame made with wood paneling painted in off white, dusty yellow, brown and turquoise blue stripes…casually chic I think…I might place against a simple white wall in a bedroom or maybe in a cute casual powder room in a vacation home. The whole image is a unlikely mix of so many styles but it works…coastal style or shabby chic with a twist!

Hope you have a great weekend. Mine has been entertaining so far!

You are not going to feel motivated every day. AndYou are not going to feel motivated every day. And you don’t have to.
Some days you’ll feel inspired and everything seems to click. Other days, you’ll question what you’re doing and wonder if any of it is actually working.
The important thing is not to mistake a slow day for a step backward.
You can keep going even when the motivation isn’t there. Some days, showing up is the progress.
Save this for the days when you need the reminder. 🤍

Some of my favorite travel moments are the ones you don’t plan: the pretty street you turn onto, the café you notice while walking by, the building you stop to look at for no particular reason.
So if you’re planning a Paris trip, don’t fill every hour. Leave room to wander.

So today, I took my work somewhere else. ☕️💻
A little change of scenery, a different view, a few hours away from my usual desk and somehow the workday felt a little lighter.
I’ve found that working somewhere else can be a nice reset when I’m feeling stuck, uninspired, or just too used to the same routine. It’s not necessarily about being more productive; sometimes it’s just about making the day feel different.
A little workday change of scenery with me. 🤍
Would you take your work somewhere else for the day?

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.
