SEE THIS HOUSE: WHAT $70 MILLION BUYS YOU IN MALLORCA SPAIN!

October 29, 2010

Exterior of a house on a hill in Mallorca, Spain

Located on a hillside in Mallorca, Spain this almost 27,000 square foot house is a newly built single family home and it is for sale.

This real estate listing is called Cielo de Bonaire and it is being offered by Sotheby’s International Realty for € 50,000,000 EUR (translate to $69,367,370 USD).

This modern villa boasts 8 bedrooms, 8 baths, 2 half baths, 2 fireplaces, marble heated floors, spa, hot tub, steam room, indoor pool, outdoor pool, guest house, home cinema, cellar helipad (for when you fly in on your helicoprter, tennis court, private elevator, extensive security system and of course pretty spectacular water views.

A little too stark and modern for me and some of the rooms seem disproportionately oversized…but if someone offered this to me as my second home, I would take it. I could certainly figure out a way to work on the interior design and decor to make it warm and inviting – I would just have to transform it into a Cococozy villa! Such would be the life if that was my biggest concern, “Hmmm…what will I do today…I think I’ll start on transforming my stark modern villa in Mallorca into a warm cozy home…hmmm…where do I start?”

In case you have an extra $70 million and lots of change for decorating (overhauling the interior design), take a look below…it’s all yours for the taking.

Living room in a mansion in Mallorca with large picture windows, wood floor, white dueling sofas, a shade rug and wood side tables

Bedroom in a mansion in Mallorca with wood floor, large windows and glass doors wiht a view of the water and mountains, a white sofa and armchairs, and floating nightstand, desk and side table

Bathroom with arched picture window with a view of the water, massive stand alone tub, a wood walkway to the tub and marble floor

Covered backyard patio with sectional sofa style lounge chairs, wood floor, woven ottomans, and a view of the water

What do you think about this new Spanish villa in Mallorca? Take it or leave it?

Don’t you wonder who will end up buying it?

Oh, I certainly wouldn’t balk at being offered a second home like that! But I agree, the house does feel quite stark. The long, narrow proportions of the house make it seem quite cold to me, especially in the foyer, living room, and bedroom. If this were in a hotter climate, I could understand it as a cool oasis, but I don’t think Mallorca is overly hot. (I could be wrong, though.)

I do like the look and feel of the lanai, though, and I think I would spend way too much time in that bathtub with the wonderful view!

This is not a home…it’s very institutional-feeling. I wouldn’t even want to stay in a hotel like this. There is absolutely nothing welcoming about this pile at all! And I think it would be very difficult to make it so, because of it’s layout & the room dimensions.

Not quite cozy enough, especially for my imaginary second home…feels like the ceilings are low in proportion to the length of rooms – though I must say the views are fabulous!!

Too big. Too stark. I’d rather take the $70 million and buy lots of cool houses in other places!!

Love this post. Oh this house is gorgeous and huge the only bad thing about it is that it’s for sell for waaay to many “pinatas”. For now, I’ll have to play with the real ones and save the “fake” ones for something else. =)

It’s a beautiful home, however how much would it suck when you get to the garage and realize you forgot your keys. Of course if you can afford the $70 million price tag, you probably have a driver waiting for you, or you have a top secret flying car that comes to get you.

Why do Paris apartments feel so much better than e Why do Paris apartments feel so much better than everything else?
While living in this cute 3 bed 2 bath apartment in the 6ème, I realized it comes down to a few things done really well:
• High ceilings
They create space without adding anything
• Herringbone wood floors
Classic, subtle, and never go out of style
• Crown molding + ceiling medallions
The detail that quietly elevates the entire room
• Interior French doors
They give you openness and separation at the same time
• Natural light
The one thing you can’t fake
I’m staying in this adorable pied-a-terre for a two months. It is my sister and brother in law’s place; they invited me to cozy up here on my own while they are back home in LA.
Every room keeps proving the same point. It’s not about adding more. It’s about getting the foundation right.
If you could only bring one of these Paris apartment design elements into your home, which one would it be?

I remember building each outfit around a coat or a scarf, with comfortable shoes that could take me anywhere, knowing I would be out for hours just walking.
Nothing overthought, just pieces that felt right for the pace of the day.
What would be your OOTD for a cold day in Paris?
