Apple peeler, corer and slicer from William Sonoma
1. My new apple peeler corer slicer from William Sonoma – cut down on apple prep time for apple pie making by a million times. Love it!

Besides being truly thankful for my amazing family and great friends, here are 5 very random things I am thankful for on Thanksgiving morning 2009. Photos all taken during my baking marathon today.

Homemade apple pie
2. Apple pie is done!

Silver Cuisinart mixer from William Sonoma
3. My new mixer by Cuisinart also from William Sonoma – Before I bought this mixer yesterday, I was mixing everything by hand; I would spend hours stirring and mixing and mashing things as if I was cooking in the 19th century. This made Thanksgiving pie prep so much easier!

Homemade sweet potato pie
4. Sweet potato pie is done – Thanks Auntie J. for filling me in on some baking tips this morning over the phone!

Chinpoo on an outdoor deck in the Hollywood Hills
5. How clueless my dog is at times – makes me laugh. I saw this going on outside my kitchen window this morning. Notice the neighbor’s cat right above him – he certainly didn’t!

Now am off to my sister’s house for a lovely Thanksgiving filled with family and cheer. Hope you are having a great day!

That apple pie – one of my favourites – looks scruptious! And I love the look on the cat’s face, peaking over the plant 🙂

Mr. B you are truly adorable – but that aside – what are the gorgeous blue stones that are inbetween your slate slabs? I love that look!

Hi Lori! Thanks for the pie compliment. Cat is not mine…belongs to the neighbor. Clueless one, the dog, is mine…hmmmmm…wonder if that is telling at all?

Linda, think these are just river rocks. Don’t know really. They seem to miraculously disappear each year and each year I tell the gardener, “Can you please bring in some of those rocks…whatever they are…”. I’ll ask the gardener. Please stand by! xo

Sooo funny about your dog….it seems my dogs are the opposite, they ALWAYS know where my neighbors cats are. I don’t know how they DO it! :)))))

Some homes just feel special the moment you walk iSome homes just feel special the moment you walk in.
From the limestone fireplace in the living room to the informal dining space, a peek into the scullery, and finally the kitchen where the island becomes the heart of it all, every space flows effortlessly into the next.
Thoughtful design. Beautiful light. A layout that truly works. ❤️
This is what a dream home looks like when vision and craftsmanship come together.

Part 2 - Marathon. So as the saying goes, “if at Part 2 - Marathon. So as the saying goes, “if at first you don’t succeed, try try again.” I will run a marathon. I will hit the road again, train again and I will run. Watch me. Last Sunday, however, wasn’t my marathon day...
I made the best of it nonetheless. If I couldn’t run, I was certainly going to be part of LA spirit and cheer the runners on.
As many may know, I was supposed to be running the Los Angeles Marathon last weekend. After 14 weeks of training and finishing my 19 mile run, I strained a muscle. I went to physical therapy every other day hoping I could still run, but the pain was still there the day before the marathon so I had to call it.
But an injury didn’t stop me from being there. I showed up to Rodeo Drive anyway.
I watched the elite runners fly by, tracked friends, and ended up cheering for three hours. Fast runners, struggling runners, and the later runners still grinding it out.
A friend texted saying she knew the day must have been hard for me. But honestly, it wasn’t. It was just fun, inspiring, and electric.
I will be on the road soon...running a race! Can’t wait!
Design starts underfoot. From checkerboard marble Design starts underfoot. From checkerboard marble to warm brick and classic parquet, these floors do more than ground a space. They bring texture, history, and character into the room. 🏁😍

A bedroom that feels like stepping into a story. A bedroom that feels like stepping into a story.
This stunning space is a beautiful example of timeless design. The canopy bed, scenic mural walls, and soft layers of green and blue create a room that feels both elegant and serene. ✨
Rich wood tones, classic antiques, and cozy textures add warmth, proving that traditional interiors can feel elevated yet deeply inviting.

So here I am. Or maybe more honestly, here I got. So here I am. Or maybe more honestly, here I got. This was 2 weeks ago.
Nineteen miles into training for my first marathon. Sixteen weeks ago I had never run before. I was a complete beginner, running three days a week, slowly teaching my body and brain how to do something totally foreign.
Somewhere along the way, running stopped being about miles. It became meditation. Rhythm. Breath. Focus. Control. A place where I learned how much of “this is hard” actually lives in our heads.
I still remember an early five mile run where I panicked after the first mile. Heavy breathing. Doubt. Wanting to quit. And then realizing nothing was actually wrong. I just had to think differently and keep going.
After this 19 mile run, my body had other plans. Injury. Two weeks of rest, physical therapy, and still no real ability to put pounding running pressure on my right leg. Marathon day is close and the outcome is uncertain. I am hoping for a miracle, but I am also being honest with reality.
At minimum, this was my marathon. Nineteen miles. A mental shift. A body that learned. Proof that we can do hard things even when the ending is unclear.
Whether I run on Sunday or not, I already crossed a finish line I never thought I could.
And here’s the part I think matters for you. Progress does not always look like a finish line. Sometimes it looks like showing up, rewiring your thinking, and staying with something even when the outcome is uncertain.
Part 2 is about what happens when plans fall apart and what I learned in the space between pushing and letting go. And we’ll find out if I can run on Sunday.
