THE BEST OF THE BEST OF STYLISH DECOR!

Went to a fab book signing party the other night…it was for Style and Substance: The Best of Elle Decor…a book by Margaret Russell and all of the editors at Elle Decor.

The party was quite posh and took place at William Sonoma Home in West Hollywood. The room was filled with interior designers, design mavens (including famous fashion designer Monique Lhuillier) and me and my sister DS (design interlopers of sorts…hee hee..). I was late. Poor DS, who is a lawyer, was left to navigate the design crowd by herself for about 20 minutes. When I arrived, I found her eating a snack, focused on some furniture and seemingly totally enjoying herself. Phew.

So many people to chat with (albeit brief in the social whirlwind)…let’s see…famed interior designer Windsor Smith who is quite lovely(dove across the room to meet her because we had emailed a few time about posts…I may have even interrupted a conversation she was having…oops), bloggers/t.v. personalities Eddie Ross and Jaithan Kochur of Eddie Ross (both so cute) … and most importantly design aficionado and head of Elle Decor Margaret Russell herself (she just oooozes undeniable style and looked so extremely chic…of course DS’s only comment to her was “I love your dress”…)

It was so much fun. After sis DS and I did our meet and greet due diligence we exited the scene…very happy to have attended, to have met, to have had a bit of champagne and have mingled.

The book looks fabulous by the way…perfect for a coffee table and filled with ideas for every space in the house. 240 pages pulled from the archives of Elle Decor. Love it!!! These pictures are pages from the book.

Hope you enjoy!

I love that seashell bathroom! I tore that picture out of my Elle Decor magazine years ago, and have had it in my ideas binder ever since!

Yes! Very excited to hear about the JA giveaway too, but now I’m equally excited about the Style and Substance book! Any contest giveaway in the future for the book? Margaret Russell is fabulous.

What fun that bathroom is — it made me laugh out loud as I imagined my wonderful housekeeper dealing with the shelves and shells. He would grumble constantly if he had to contend with it!

Great description of the fabulous signing party — a perfect treat for fabulous you (and fabulous DS)!

Took a look at the living room design – gorgeous! Note that the carpet is similar to that used in the living room set of the film “Something’s Gotta Give”, everyone’s fav design (and copied many, many times). Loved it!

Life doesn’t always look the way we imagined it woLife doesn’t always look the way we imagined it would.
There will be seasons when everything seems to be falling into place, and seasons when we’re simply trying to find our footing again.
Both matter.
You don’t have to rush through the hard seasons or feel behind because you’re not where you thought you’d be.
Give yourself permission to grow at your own pace. What’s happening beneath the surface matters too.
Trust the process. Trust your timing. Keep going. ✨

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎

The right chandelier doesn’t just light a room, it becomes the room. Scale, material, placement. When it’s done right, everything else arranges itself around it.

Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive.Summer is when this courtyard really comes alive. 🌸
One thing I’ve learned is that every outdoor space needs a focal point. It gives your eye a place to land and makes the whole space feel more intentional.
In this courtyard, the bougainvillea naturally becomes that focal point, adding color, height, and movement without overwhelming the space.
If you’re designing your own patio or garden, start with one standout feature, then let everything else support it.
Save this tip for your next outdoor project. ✨
