THIS OR THAT: WHICH PREPPY BED DO YOU PREFER?!

October 6, 2011
  • Share
Bedroom with ticking stripe upholstered striped sleigh bed, a matching striped bench, white built in shelves and a wood floor

Two chic rooms for the modern prep in today’s THIS OR THAT!

I like this bedroom above. Ahhh…a retreat indeed. Soothing, calming, not a lot of visual clutter. Then there is the adorable upholstered bed covered in ticking stripe fabric.  Subtly preppy.  Reminds me of Nantucket.

Then there is the room below…another preppy bed…this time plaid upholstered.  This is more of Southern preppy room in my view. (lots of plaid from me this week I know…!)

Which preppy upholstered bed do you like better…the ticking stripe above or the plaid slip covered bed below?

rustic country bedroom a a plaid slip covered headboard, roof line post beam ceiling, rustic wood desk, chair and wood floor

Have you decided?  Which room is your fave? I’m leaning towards the ticking stripe…I think…

Happy Thursday!

I did plaid once. It has taken me a long time to get over it. I vote stripes. :0

I adore the stripe ticking – it is neutral but not plain or boring!! It get’s my vote! Cheers! Becky

I like the rustic-y feel of the plaid bed room, but I prefer the cleaner feel of the stripe one.

The first one if my favorite. I love a good ticking stripe. Never goes out of style. Classic.

I vote for neither. I am so sick of rooms that look like catalog photo shoots. These rooms look like Pottery Barn pictures, just different years. It is a sad of affairs in the world of design when catalog companies, who do nothing but knock off other’s design work, have this much influence over interior design.

I love the serenity of the first; though it really needs one of your great throws and a cool garden stool.

not that fond of either bed, and abhor foot boards! But love the ROOM in the second pic and the casual feel, just not the headboard, plaid, and the bed skirt. lol I love beds with legs. 😉

Ticking stripe!!! I just bought ticking stripe curtains for my bedroom, and I love them – vintage-y but preppy, clean and linear all at once!

I like the second one because it has more color and personality. The first is clean, bright and modern, but it lacks anything oroginal to set it apart from a catalog set.

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. 🗿
