Dodecahedron. Hmmmm. For some reason this multifaceted shape seems to be popping up everywhere in design. You might ask…what is a dodecahedron? I asked that myself a few months ago when the word came up during a conversation. (Don’t ask how it came up in a conversation but it did…and it has been coming up almost every day for the last 2 months…I know…strange)
Here’s the definition from Wikipedia:
In geometry, a dodecahedron is any polyhedron with twelve flat faces…It is composed of 12 regular pentagonal faces, with three meeting at each vertex, and is represented by the Schläfli symbol {5,3}. It has 20 vertices and 30 edges.
Uh, what? Translation? I think simply put, a dodecahedron means a 12 sided figure.
Seems the design world is fascinated by this multifaceted shape. I like it too! After I first heard the word, then saw the shape, I kept seeing it everywhere I turned in design…take a look!

Do you like this multifaceted shape or is it too much geometry for you? Please do tell.
Happy Monday!

P.S. Check out my COCOCOZY Mother’s Day gift pick on The List Collective today. Also, see what Nicole Richie, Heidi Klum and Trina Turk picked out for moms too!
I love it! The many faces of design…especially when the geometry transcends the 2d look to create 3d effects…here’s where color is key! Love that bathroom shot…pinning!

I hated geometry in high school (yes, I can remember back that far) but I could love a dodecahedron, if only because it is fun to say.

LOL, totally agree. They are everywhere. I got so wrapped up in it, I bought a RL polyhedron pendant at Home Goods for super cheap and there’s nowhere to put it in my house… NO WHERE. Darn!
Did a post on it a while back, too! Great minds…
