VERY SWEET ON ANOTHER SWEDISH FLAT!

March 1, 2011

Living room in an apartment in Sweden with hardwood floor, shag rug, floor length curtains and sectional sofa with bright pink accent pillows

Maybe I should take a flat in Sweden. Move to Sweden? Should one move to a country just because they one likes that country’s decor sensibility?

Hmmm…pondering…pondering…thinking…hmmm….

Anyhooo…I really love this little flat for rent in Sweden. It is the cutest little fresh apartment I’ve seen in a bit. Bright and cheerful. Nothing about this space says depressing or moody. This is definitely a happy little place. Love the fact that it is a rental and it looks fantastic. Just goes to show you that whether you rent or own…you can make your place quite stylish.

Love the bedroom the most I think. Something so sweet about the floral wallpaper and the iron bed. No frills…just the basics but nicely styled basics nonetheless.

What do you think of this cute little flat (was talking to my friend who lives in London today…excuse the “flat” references…let me rephrase…apartment)? Hot or not?

Happy Tuesday (it is so much better than Monday actually on my end)! Happy March!

I am a designer living in Toronto. From the large amount of empty space around the furniture, I would say that this flat is considerably more spacious than my very small Victorian Toronto flat.
This Swedish flat has hallways that are spacious enough to have built-in bookshelves. I wish! At only 36″ in width, my hall is nearly impossible to do anything with it. I’ve turned my hallway into a showcase gallery of some of my favourite artists’s work.
From the photos, I am assuming that the grandpiano & the desk are in the same music room. Again…lots of space. The rooms have large windows filling them with natural light, which I would give anything for.
If this apartment was available in Toronto, there would be a stampede to rent it! And I would there elbowing my way in and cajoling the landlords with my charm. 🙂

Beautiful! I love the architectural details and that wallpaper, oh my!
Just one bizarre thing… what is up with the curtain rings on the rod without curtains? Maybe at the dry cleaners?? 🙂

Just found one bizarre thing, though… what is up with those curtain rings on the rod with the curtains?? At the drycleaners, maybe? :-))

Agreed – great style for a rental! Although not sure about having a white sofa in rental… So light and airy.

Totally hot! I think this flat is beautiful. I see a single woman living there enjoying the feminine surroundings and not worrying about dirtying the sofa. :-).

Light is everything and I am betting this is south facing. Lots of white furniture reflecting all the light too.

Light and bright… I dont know? Remember that Stockholm has a dark and cold winter for four-five months. The summer is much brighter but lasts only for three months, the rest is mostly grey… But yes, its a fab design city, full off cool restaurants and beautiful swedes:-)

    Ugh – more white!?!
The more pictures I see on this blog, the more I realize that painting everything white is a cop-out for designers. White walls, furniture, floors, and bedding, with a couple of bright colors thrown in. If you have a lot of natural sunlight, everything looks amazing, with almost no effort.
As a trend, it demonstrates a lack of creativity. Creating spaces utilizing more colors with a more difficult temperament is a design challenge, and is what separates good designers from the rest of the pack.
I will give you an analogy from my good portrait photographer friend; he never allows his subjects to come for a photo shoot dressed in whites, as it is too easy to make them look good (or ‘washed out of imperfections’, in his words), without utilizing any photographic skill.
    Same thing here.
    NO MORE WHITES!!!

I love this! Very minimal and bright, and it also allows you showcase your furniture. It takes a lot of effort to make things seem this effortless. Every piece chosen has to be just right. Well done!

It’s not a rental. I think you misunderstood the details, the apartment is for sale, but you have to pay a monthly fee for upkeep of the building.

All of the apartments from Alvhem Makleri & Interior are for sale. Perhaps you don’t know that “Makleri” means realtor in Swedish?
