Vacation. Wouldn’t that be nice? I took a little holiday up in northern California in wine country with TE around the New Year…and now I am already longing for another holiday! Musing…what about some place I have never been before…some place in South America?
Well I happened upon these images of a hotel made of found objects! What in the world? Yes…this wonderful little boutique hotel named Casa Zinc near Punta del Este in Uruguay is a charming enclave constructed from recovered items. Out of the imagination of owner Aaron Hojman who traveled Uruguay and surrounding countries looking to reclaim pieces of architecture to build a compound. He found items like metal sheeting from barns, fragments of pharmacies, abandoned warehouse pieces, architectural detail from old hotels and even found some items in a railway station. All of this collecting for 30 years make up Casa Zinc.
Hmmm…a visit to the Uruguayan Riviera perhaps? Maybe…!
