I love looking through real estate listings. Don’t know why. I am working with a realtor right now to find a new house. I feel badly though…I have not at all been focused. He sends me a listing for this or that and nothing has made me say I have to buy right now.
Normally I like a house with a bit of history and some interesting back story. This house, which is NOT in my price range at all, doesn’t have any history just some nouveau flourish.. as it is a brand new home.
For 5.5 million, you could get 5 bedrooms and 9 baths in the tony Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles…on a street just off of Sunset Blvd. Almost 9,000 square feet includes fine finishes, large rooms, home theater, game room and gorgeous pool. Hmmmm…who could ask for more? I shouldn’t ask that question…because somehow I always find myself asking for more.
This new construction house fuses multiple styles the way do here in Southern California so often…the listing says it is a “stately European manor with regency and deco touches”. There are some things I don’t love about this house…like the total absence of color in the staging and the marble floors in the living room…but other things I do really like, for example, the pool, the built in book shelves in the library and all of the space!
Enjoy today’s SEE THIS HOUSE!
What do you think of this home…? Money aside…would you ever buy it? If money was “aside” in my life, I think I would buy this home and several others. 🙂
Happy Thursday!

I love the idea of a home with some character to it. And this one doesn’t seem to have any. If I had $5.5 million, I’d put it to better use.
The curves on the kitchen island are really cool. The house has a lot of potential!
It’s a little too white for me… but nice none the less.
I agree with Denise. This house is stale. I wouldn’t buy it even if I have $5.5 million.
Sure, I’d buy it, for the pool and lounge area alone.
As much as I love white and bright, the bathroom was too white.
All that white hides positive attributes like wonderful and intricate moldings. For 5.5 mil I would expect a more impressive entry (that closet door is boring), better and larger windows (that dining room is boring) and a better staging job. (look at the cheap curtains in the guest bedroom) I do like the mirrored or metal surround on the fireplace and the covered back patio…would they take $895,000?
Sure why not! I think it’s lovely.
Definitely no character. Too big a house on too small a lot. All the typical L.A. McMansion problems. Feels a bit cold and unlived in.
I would bye it! I love the all white, it gives it such a chic feeling. Just add pops of color in every room and it would be amazing!
I would be delighted to receive it as a gift!!!
It could be a very pretty home, but as it is now it has a very nervous feeling. It looks like it is wrapped in a straight-jacket, even the pool area.
Only if I had enough money to completely redo the interior. That is White NOT done right.
Totally lacking a soul…there is no sense of place or personality to this home. It’s almost as if it were built as a spec house, but it’s not even universally appealing.
such a beautiful home. i love the outdoor space the most although the interior is fantastic too.
I like the house, and the gardens/pool area. But I dont see the need for massive rooms. When you dont have enough furniture to fill a room, it makes it feel empty. I guess if I had $5.5M, I could afford to buy extra furniture though…
Wow, I love this house. I just saved every photo I think. The wall colors are so beautiful—white but a bit blue, no?
Amazing bones, boring decorating.
Most amazing kitchen island I’ve seen in a long time. The “U” shape is great. Loved the patio furniture too, although the rest of the staging was a little weak (especially the dining room). I think the reason a lot of people aren’t loving the white or feeling it’s too cold is that marble floor. A little too much in my opinion.
Luxury house.
I dream to live in there.
