I continue to be inspired by those charming Southern Porches as I prep for my trip to New Orleans this weekend where I’ll be speaking on the blogger panel at the Southern Style Now Festival! I’m sharing 7 of my favorites today…this porch above is from my trip to the Playa Grande Beach Club in the Dominican Republic where the architecture and decor are rich in southern inspiration. Beautiful wrap-around porches, wrought-iron detailing, expansive ceilings, wicker furniture…all of these characteristics create an outdoor space that is an extension of the home inside.
I love the use of chandeliers in porches – it adds so much warmth to the space! Ceiling Fans are also a classic southern porch characteristic that again really makes the outdoor space feel like it’s another room in the house that can be lived in.
