Entering a delightful guest room at hotel Casa del Mar in Santa Monica!
Oh how I need a vacation…a real vacation! Ever since deciding to launch the COCOCOZY collection over a year ago, I haven’t really taken a proper vacation (I did go to Mexico for a few days but needed way more time there, I missed Nantucket this summer, had to cancel Paris this summer and so much more). Still no time to take a good vacation…but why not a “staycation”?
Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica
My sis DS and the guy she’s seeing keep on taking “staycations”…I think it is kind of funny because she’ll call me and say, “I’m on “staycation” this weekend so I’ll be out of the loop”. I don’t understand why she just doesn’t say, “I’m hanging out with XX for the weekend, I’ll call you Sunday.” Instead I’ll get a very serious call in the middle of her busy work day usually on a Thursday, where she says, “Hey Coco, I will NOT be available this weekend.” And I say, “Okay.” Then she says (proudly kind of), “I’ll be on staycation.” Then she mumbles something about the project she is working on at work and then hangs up. LOL! I find this quite amusing.
Anyhoooo…the thought of a “staycation”…getting away right at home is sounding more and more appealing to me…especially after seeing this MARVELOUS room at Casa del Mar in Santa Monica. Was invited to a fab dinner at Casa del Mar by the equally fab Sarah Robarts of Ballantines PR (who also happens to be a good friend) and she said in her lovely British accent, “Would you like to have a little look at the rooms here?”…I had in fact never seen the rooms at the hotel so I said yes. It was a true delight when I walked into one of the guest rooms. So delightful that I asked to come back during the day to take a few photos.
About Casa Del Mar
Anyhooooooo…from an interior design perspective, I am absolutely loving the guest rooms at Casa del Mar. Apparently remodeled a few years ago, the rooms in this 1920s hotel are cool, relaxing, fresh, inviting, clean, soothing and to top it off have an ocean view!! Oh my oh dear oh my, I need a “staycation” right in this hotel room! I love the cool blues and grey tones…monochromatic to a certain extent…but just the right way to be monochromatic. Everything from the textures, the painted furniture in soft white, the wall unit, to the beachy accessories, the to-die-for marble bath and did I mention the view? I did mention the ocean view but I’ll mention it again.
Hmmm…this is food for thought…or design for thought I should say! I may need to take my own “staycation” right here in L.A.! Just might need to!
Where might you “staycation” near you? Do you like this room? Would you want to stay here? I know I would!
Happy Thursday!
xo

The colors are so relaxing, and such a simple, easy way of decorating! You could easily replicate this look at home.
I took a vacation from NYC to Santa Monica and stayed at Casa del Mar – it was absolutely lovely! It would be wonderful to be there now. Your pictures bring back fond memories.
Stylishly yours,
Kalyn
OMG..I am going!! How charming and chic all at the same time. My favorite Staycation is at the Four Seasons Villas. Here in Dallas (las Colinas). Great spa, pool and golfing for the Mr.

It would be wonderful to leave Sacramento’s grey skies and be in Santa Monica right now. What a view. I’d like to bring that bathroom back home too.
I love this room! I am trying to achieve a similar look in my bedroom. Simple and calm feeling!
I desperately need a vacation. All I do is work. In the good old days I stayed at Casa del Mar having dun with my friends and relaxing. What happened to my life???W-O-R-K.
Love the bathroom & that view!

GREAT thread! this is one of my favorite go-to spots! just there for valentines din-din! can’t beat the view!
beautiful pics!
I have these same photos from my stays at casa del mar. My very most favorite hotel in California! The beauty and relaxation in the rooms here is hard to beat and the icing on the cake is the sound of the ocean while you sleep with the windows open. I have been trying to redo my home with this same style and feel for some time:)
Very pretty! A little too heavy on the monochrome in my opinion (I’d go for a darker carpet, but that’s just me!), but they’ve got some really cute pieces!
AMAZING!! beautiful peaceful blue room…and that VIEW!! oh my! count me in!!
I like the fact that you can take a bath and look outside into the horizon, how relaxing!
Oh, I love the colours – but the best is the view from the window…
Greatings, Therés
I love the colors in these rooms…so soft and serene…i would prefer a real vacation though!! have a great weekend, coco!! xx meenal
What a lovely relaxing five minutes I’ve had looking into your gorgeous blog, I would rather have a vacation than a staycation though !! However hard you try you are never quite out of the loop. x
I can tell you love that desk chair and I’m with you! So beautiful and the carpet is amazing, I want it as an area rug for my living room…
Love the “window” above the bathtub – it is a genius way to open up a wall/closed in room into the next.
Love the rooms in general – especially the softly patterned carpet and inviting bath.
I would love to stay there! That room clearly says, come in and relax! I love the four poster canopy bed, all the colors and the gorgeous bathroom! 🙂 (And- what a view!)
love the carpet and built in unit…totally me
Love the room and the view! Great idea to stay close to home and relax on the beach!
That carpet is freaking fabulous!
Does anyone know where I can get that carpet? LOVE it!
