Mattress Round-Up: Sleep Better this Summer

July 15, 2021
  • Share

Last week, my friend reached about to me regarding mattress recommendations. Mattress shopping is overwhelming. It’s incredibly time-consuming to decide your list of needs, research brands, and ultimately, find what you want in your price range. Online shopping makes the process so much easier. Browse online and compare different types of mattresses to find the perfect pick for you. A lot of these companies will deliver to your door and you have plenty of time to try it out – with a guaranteed refund if you don’t love it. Nothing is worse than mattress shopping in person. Here are the best companies from all of my research!

Contemporary Minimalist Bedroom Dreams

June 15, 2021
  • Share

Styled by Swedish-based freelance interior design stylist, Linnéa H. Manaberi, this contemporary minimalist bedroom is full of Scandinavian flair. Known for neutral colors and clean lines, this room takes an interesting approach to minimalism that is unexpected. The architecture of this room is muted and minimal with eggshell walls, soft white molding, and weathered light wood floors. With such a blank canvas, the furniture and accessories are really what brings this room to life.

Bedroom Nooks: From Old Chateaus to Modern Designs

December 1, 2020
  • Share

Bedroom nooks are a great way to transform your bedroom into a cozy oasis. After reading a New York Times article about a chateau in Normandy, I became inspired and wanted to share some of my favorites with all of you. As some of you already know, I love researching chateaus and castles. At the Chateau Saint-Calais, there is a beautiful yellow bedroom that has a nook right behind the bed. It has an elegant graphic design that becomes the centerpiece of the room. It’s a unique way to add luxury and charm to the bedroom.

Also, nooks are a great way to create usable space. Small bedrooms can be difficult to decorate. Creating a nook allows for more space in a small bedroom. It gives you the ability to add furniture, decor, and other home accessories that wouldn’t be able to fit in the space.

From old chateaus to modern designs, there are so many ways to redesign a bedroom nook in your home. They are the perfect place to relax in bed with a good book and a fresh cup of coffee. I’m now thinking of different ways I can incorporate nooks into my future home designs. For some inspiration, check out my list of 9 cozy bedroom nooks.

Rustic Cabin Tour

November 4, 2019

When I ran across this rustic cabin makeover I knew I had to cover it! This New Hampshire cabin is completely off the grid. Alice Saunder knew immediately once she saw it that it was going to be hers. With the help of her boyfriend, they turned this bare-bones cabin into a sanctuary. It was no easy task. The cabin had no electricity, running water or even cell reception. The end result is simply amazing! It makes me want to go buy a rustic cabin right now.

Celebrity Homes – Liv Tyler

October 21, 2019

One thing I love posting about is celebrity home tours. When I ran across a tour of Liv Tyler’s West Village Townhouse I knew I had to cover it! A look inside Liv Tyler’s whimsical and beautifully designed townhouse! This stunning townhouse was entirely redone and was a historical renovation. They did an amazing job at adding custom molding, woods floors, pocket doors and more! This house tour is so good that it inspired two other post ideas that are now on my list!

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.
Curved, curated, and completely hers. 🤍

A little peek at one of my favorite outdoor spaces, which I designed years ago. The patterned tile, navy seating, white stucco, and layers of greenery make this balcony feel like a little room all its own.
I love how much personality you can create in a small outdoor space without making it feel overcrowded.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎
