Interior designers are swapping out the everyday kitchen chairs with built-in banquette seating. Today, more people rather have stylish informal dining areas for their families to enjoy. I mean…how often do you eat at your formal dining table? Most people only use their dining room for holidays and gatherings. My kitchen is small and doesn’t have any space for a dining table. However, if you have the space then there’s no need for a formal dining room. So now with the rise of modern banquette seating, will formal dining rooms become obsolete?
The breakfast nook above is designed by Jkath Design. The space has large steel windows which allow for an abundance of natural light. The custom seating creates a cozy vibe and complements the wooden beam ceiling for a rustic look.

The ideal lakeside home is full of natural light, ample space for entertaining, and original charm. This Dallas home has all of that and more. Interior designer, Chad Dorsey, renovated this 6,500-square-foot lakeside paradise for his clients. The stand-out room is the galley kitchen which features wall-to-ceiling windows that flood the room.
The original kitchen was small and not very functional for Dorsey’s clients. Dorsey removed the walls and other enclosed spaces to expand the kitchen into a lavish hangout spot that flows right into the breakfast area. The goal of the renovation was to integrate modern design without minimizing the original charm of the lakeside home.

Our bedrooms are no exceptions. An easy way to update your space is by adding a new headboard to your bedroom. From simple and classic to bold and modern, our round-up of 12 headboards will give your bedroom an instant makeover.
The above photo is from my stay at the Casamidy San Miguel de Allende house. The founders Jorge Almada and Anne-Marie Midy, invited me to stay at their home a few years back. I’m still not over this bedroom design. The headboard is an original Casamidy design that ties the room together.
Luxurious kitchens don’t need to be grand spaces. You can find beauty in small spaces too. This elegant kitchen was designed by Zoe Feldman Design. She gave this space a facelift by adding navy blue cabinets and accessorizing with gold hardware. My favorite element in the flooring. It complements the beautiful blue hue of the cabinets.
A tiny space can have a big impact on the design of your home. Feldman modernized the kitchen with Calcutta marble countertops and backsplash. To prevent the room from looking too cluttered she added open shelving.

1. A Grand Staircase
The above photo is of the grand staircase at my friend’s house. He kept the design minimal a slightly curved shape with black iron railings. I love the way it accents the black trim of the windows.

The photo above is a front porch located at a little inn in the Hamptons. I came across it while on a walk. The pink and green hues made me stop and take a closer look. I love when homeowners aren’t afraid to add a pop of color. Most home exteriors are neutral and wood tones. I think it’s time to step out of our comfort zones when it comes to our home exteriors. See my 3 tips to dress up your front porch below.
