Black and White Exterior

Black and white home decor dates back to the 1920s. The monochromatic color combination can be adapted in many different styles including modern, traditional, rustic, contemporary, and glamour. One of the most popular exterior designs is white brick. The best thing about black-and-white home detail is that it evolves with home design trends. There is a classic elegance of black and white furniture and decor. Making it a go-to color palette for decorating a cozy home.

How To Style A Black & White Living Room

When it comes to designing a black and white living room, always start with a neutral base. Typically a big ticket item like the couch or sectional would be considered the heart of a living room. Once you have that neutral staple base you can continue to build the design by adding texture and layers. But first comes the furniture, some of my favorite brands to shop for black and white furniture include Lulu & Georgia, One Kings Lane, and Arhaus.

The Importance of Contrast and Balance

It is imperative when styling a room that there are both contrast and balance. While monochrome interior design is sleek, we do not want it to be boring or monotonous. You can break up that monotony with patterns, and mix them in the room when it comes to rugs, pillows, and other decorative pieces. This way the color scheme is still intact while adding some contrast to the room.

Black And White Home Decor

Styling in black and white decor is beneficial because it is timeless and will add to that monochromatic look. It compliments the room while also adding contrast as well as a chic elegance.

Your mom’s coming over and suddenly every room neeYour mom’s coming over and suddenly every room needs to be perfect. 🤣
Panic mode activated!
If you only have 10 minutes, focus on these three things:
1. Make the bed. It instantly makes the whole room look cleaner.
2. Fold or straighten the throw blanket and pillows.
3. Clear visible clutter from nightstands and the floor.
That’s it. Those three steps make the biggest visual impact without deep cleaning.
Save this for the next time you need a fast bedroom reset. 🔖

Black is not a bold choice. It’s a neutral, and one of the most versatile ones in design.
The rooms that get it right treat black the same way others treat white or greige: as a foundation that lets everything else breathe. The texture of the wall. The warmth of the wood. The drama of the marble. Black doesn’t compete, it amplifies.
Save this the next time someone talks you out of going dark. 🖤

Life when I’m offline. 🎣 On this trip to Park CitLife when I’m offline. 🎣
On this trip to Park City, UT, I was way off line with a little fly fishing. No emails. No DMs. No feed. Just a rod, a beautiful river, and however long it takes to catch something.
Running two brands means my brain rarely stops so when it does, it really does.
No fish were harmed. All fish were returned into the river.
What do you do when you log off? Comment and let's give each other some ideas!😀

15 things you don’t know about me 👋 1. I’m the fo15 things you don’t know about me 👋
1. I’m the founder of COCOCOZY, but design wasn’t my first career. I was a t.v. news reporter and then a t.v. executive.
2. I’m also the founder of a tech company, Chirpyest.
3. My work has been featured in Architectural Digest and House Beautiful.
4. I designed an entire Design House from scratch.
5. I’m obsessed with mixing vintage flea market finds with modern furniture.
6. Paris is basically my second home. I go every chance I get.
7. I once found a pile of rusty horseshoes at a flea market and turned them into decor.
8. Black and white is my go-to palette when I’m stuck on a design.
9. I am an expert at making a short story long! 😬
10. I believe a side table can make or break a room.
11. Kindness is genuinely one of my core values, not just a bio line.
12. I’ve been doing design and content long enough to have opinions on everything from rugs to real estate. 18 years!
13. I’m just as happy on a flea market hunt as I am at a design fair.
14. My camera roll is 70% room shots, 20% selfies (obsessed with skincare and fashion these days) 10% coffee in Paris cafés.
15. I started sharing all this because I love it, not because it was the “smart” thing to do.
Now you know a little more about the person behind COCOCOZY 🤍 Which one surprised you most? Tell me below.
