Today’s inspiration is from a modern New York City kitchen nook. New York is one of the best cities because of its historic architecture and design. It’s a combination of edge and sophistication, making it entirely unique. Every building has its own story. You never know what’s on the inside.
This New York apartment was designed by Eye Swoon. The space has a black and white color story with hints of neutral tones. Athena Calderone has a special eye for design. She knows how to elevate an elegant space with contemporary elements that you won’t find in other NY homes. The room above is an elegant kitchen that features a cozy nook overlooking New York.
Let’s discuss how to decorate a bookshelf – with more than just books. A bookshelf is a wonderful place to show off your style and accessorize. Along with beautiful books it is the perfect place to add those smaller knick knack accessories to bring it all together. When picking out decorative pieces and books try to stick with a color scheme to set the tone.
First and foremost we will need start off decorating with books of course. If you don’t already have a collection of good reads, decorative coffee table books are the way to go. When it comes to decorative accessories, neutrals are always the way to go. Make sure to choose pieces and color that accentuate your bookshelf and books. This is where the fun happens and you can get creative. Mix and match decor like elaborate bookends or antique vases and candlesticks – the options are endless!
On the topic of summer, I’m highlighting one of my favorite backyards located in the East Hamptons. It’s a gorgeous spacious yard that is the perfect setting for hosting summer parties. And yes it’s owned by one of my close friends. It’s the ideal getaway while on the east coast. There’s a reason why you hear so much hype about the Hamptons. Once you visit, you’ll never want to leave.

You may remember my post back in November about how I was working with Capel Rugs on a new collection of rugs. Well….the collection has arrived! This collection includes new COCOCOZY textiles and designs with a modern twist. There are a total of four rug patterns included: Cobblestone, Escape, Happy Day, and Pulse. We even added a few more color and pattern options!
For those of you who don’t know Capel Rugs, they are a textiles company based in North Carolina and they are one of the biggest rugs companies in the world. I was really excited when they asked me to design some new textiles again for their collection and I hope you love them as much as I do. I’ve included a few photos of the new collection below. These rugs are available in North Carolina from Spotlight stores and internationally from Capel Rugs.
Bathrooms are one of the most expensive rooms to renovate in your home. The prices of tile, countertops and any other materials can be thousands of dollars. But it’s also one of the best rooms to invest in for resale value. Upgrading your bathroom is definitely worth the stress, but some people don’t want to break the bank to do so. There are easy ways to upgrade the space without having to do a full renovation.
You can upgrade your vanity. Vanities are the centerpiece of your bathroom. It’s the first thing people see when they enter the bathroom. There are many DIY hacks or hire a professional to build a custom vanity. If you want to start small, then I suggest switching out the hardware for a more modern look.
Browse my picks below to help you get inspired for your next bathroom makeover. I included vanities, lighting, and mirrors to help elevate your bathroom for a spring refresh.
There’s a resurgence of 1970s style. And I’m not talking about shag carpets. Bold colored furniture and earthy tones are trending again in 2022. I guess the pandemic has caused everyone to incorporate more color into their homes. That’s not a bad thing. I’ve seen more textured fabrics and geometric shapes in home decor. If you’re not into the minimalism trend, then try going for a sophisticated 1970s looks with a dark green sofa and wood textures. I’ve rounded up 20 sofa’s to that will help bring the 1970s to your living room.
