Destination Dinner Party: Positano

August 22, 2019
  • Share

Throwing a proper dinner party is an art. There is nothing like a perfectly designed and planned gathering. From the color scheme to the people you invite, It is a thoughtfully curated moment. This dinner party in Positano Italy is simply breathtaking. It has me thinking that a destination dinner party might just be the next big thing. Let’s explore what makes this event so stunning and what to wear to your next dinner party.

GREENERY OVER THE WATER

share

Talk about breathtaking! I stumbled upon this incredible destination while browsing Instagram and immediately checked out the full article on Vogue.com. The hanging green canopy is simply stunning. I have never seen anything quite like it. The way the vines come down and spread across the table really make this image. And who could forget about that view! It’s unbeatable to have a gathering literally overlooking the ocean on the coast of Italy. The subtly patterned table cloth and deep blue glasses work beautifully next to the blue of the ocean. No detail is left forgotten – the flowers and candles are artfully placed between the vines.

COZY CORNER UNDERNEATH CANOPY

share

This image is just as beautiful but simpler. The white canopies add great coverage from the sun while creating a dream-like quality.  The lush greenery is the perfect scenery behind the all-white setting. The choice to do all white works well. The small plants, green/blue glasses, and napkins add just the right amount of color. The color also looks stunning in comparison to the nature around. Simple, yet stunning, this seating area is picturesque and dreamy.

I always love to fantasize about what people are in attendance at a grand dinner party. These gatherings are special in that way, they bring so many interesting people together to form new relationships.

OVERLOOKING THE BEACH

share

This has to be my favorite image! So crisp and clean yet, beautifully decorated this setting is perfect. This structure is more refined and luxurious. Plus, the table is basically on the beach! Just on a deck or balcony a few feet up. I can only imagine how beautiful the lights are at night. The combo of lanterns and bulbs is interesting and works well with the decor. I love that this space offers seating on the sides of the balcony beside the table itself. This space feels much more casual for having a conversation. The crisp table cloth, two-tone chairs, and table setting work together in unison. I love amount of plants, flowers, and candles on the table.

INCREDIBLE SHOTS FROM POSITANO, ITALY

Some outfit inspiration for this destination gathering! A stunning lace and pattern midi dress with big sunglasses perfect for a day out.

Just look at this stunning image of the beach in Positano! Such clean water and an incredible array of beach chairs and umbrellas. This image alone has convinced me that I need to take a trip here!

When planning the perfect dinner party you can’t forget about what sensational outfit you will be wearing. Whether as a host or a guest having the perfect outfit will make the night complete.

I love daydreaming about what I would wear to this incredible dinner party. The scenery and colors are just so dreamy. I opted for a collection of dresses that are bright and eye-catching. These dresses are beautiful. Yet, they are casual enough so still be effortlessly stylish. My personal favorites are the black and white gown by Johanna Ortiz and the long sleeve dress by Les Reveries. I will always opt for a midi-length dress for an evening celebration. They just seem a bit more formal and are much more comfortable! I also love reaching for a dress with a sleeve so I’m not dealing with straps all day.

How stunning would these dresses be seated at this dinner party?

A destination dinner party calls for comfortable yet, stylish footwear. I picked out a range of sandals that I’m in love with. Keep it super casual with a flat sandal or elevated your look with a block heel. I’m a big advocate for a block heel – they are insanely comfortable and make you look just a tad more put together. Depending on the location a flat sandal could be the way to go. If it’s in more of a rural area with a rough terrain definitely opt for flat!

Happy dinner partying! If you can’t get enough dinner party inspo then, check out My End of Summer Dinner Party post.

I can’t wait to throw my next dinner party. I want to hear all about your dinner party tips and tricks!

Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles an Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles and fancy things to make your house a home. In this picture, a plant, two chairs I found at the flea market, a layered rug situation and some modern art...de-cluttered space can be equally as inviting as one filled with memories and treasures. If you are stuck with how to decorate, I say keep it simple. Purge and start with the basics. Full disclosure, this is a shot of my living room from a few years ago when I first moved in...I didn’t even have drapes up when this was taken. I have since added pieces and changed out furniture and added a 2nd sofa...but it started super simple and it was lovely back then. When the world is swirling around us and making no sense, how are you keeping things simple at home? #socococozy #bringstylehome #cococozy
Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last year. Clueless as to what was to come. Was in Paris, with my mom, enjoying her summer apartment in the middle of the 6th arrondissement. I had just left the U.K. visiting friends for a few days in London and the Cotswolds. None of us knew that this summer 2020 would be so different. Today, I can only hope this time of tumult and great divides leads somehow to a future of calm and harmony. Going backwards in time is not an option. Pushing forward is. Happy Sunday to you. Where were you last summer? Where do you imagine you’ll be next? Xoxo #socococozy #bringstylehome
Incredible living room before and after as designe Incredible living room before and after as designed by my good friend Steve Jones @bettershelter! I went on a tour today. I also went on a tour a year ago when he first got the house. See my stories. Swipe to see what this room looked like before. Life lesson from a room transformation: When faced with the daunting and not so pretty, look to do the work, and you can make changes to bring out what is good. Right? This home by the way is going on the market soon and is in one of my favorite parts of town, View Park. What changes have you made lately that have turned bad into good? #socococozy #bringstylehome #remodeling #homerenovation #californiadreaming

Am in my living room right now looking at these pretty flowers in that white urn I found lying around. The urn works (see Flower Power highlights for backstory). Thinking on who I might send one of these bouquets to today as a little act of kindness. Still working on the patience piece of her advice! 🤪 Who might you send flowers to? How can you be more patient with yourself? Happy Saturday!
