GOOD BYE 2014, HELLO 2015 & MY NEW YEARS RESOLUTION

December 31, 2014
  • Share

Driving back from San Francisco this morning with TE.  Spent an extra long weekend in wine country and the Bay Area celebrating TE’s birthday and rounding out the year.  We had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful scenery here.

Yesterday, there was a wind storm in San Francisco.with gusts up to 60 mph.  Instead of staying in, TE and I took to the streets to see the city.  (The wind was so strong we saw a tree crack apart and fall on the hood of a car (noone was injured and a group of passersby helped the vehicle driver lift the tree off of his car and onto the sidewalk)). Needless to say it was a very windy day.  We walked, talked, climbed up hills and TE took these photos.

The windy day was a metaphor of sorts.  Got me thinking about the wind violently blowing away 2014 to make things fresh and new for 2015.

2014 was an interesting year for me as I made some tweaks.  Spent much of the year working to get COCOCOZY on track.  Owning a small business is a challenge.  An amazing wonderful hard to solve puzzle.  This year, I had to organize the puzzle pieces so it makes sense as I move forward to building the right picture.  The puzzle analogy is really the truth.  This year, we made some great strides organizing and categorizing the puzzle pieces and next year I’ll start putting everything in place again. 2014 was the year I took stock literally and figuratively speaking.  Here’s the exciting part for me, I couldn’t be more excited about COCOCOZY as I go into my 7th year of blogging and my start year 4 of the textiles business.  I love what I do and I hope my story of starting a business from scratch will motivate you to continue to follow your dreams.

For 2015, I resolve to “take risks and have no time for fear”.  On a lot of fronts, I have played things very safe – I make sure I have a safety net in place before taking steps forward both professionally and even personally.   I need to take some of the worrying out of life and just live and grow.  How can I take my small business to the next level in 2015 if I am afraid of risk, worried about being secure?  I am not suggesting throwing all caution to the wind but I do feel like our fears and worries can hold us back…so I need to let those go and grow without fear.  No time for fear in 2015.  No time at all.

I hope you will join me in living a “no fear year”.  Put aside those hang ups that may be holding something back for you.  Try to take the plunge.  Dive in.  How cold could the waters be?

Want to thank you dear readers for being with me this last year and along the way.  So great to hear from you and read your stories via email. I am looking forward to next year with.  A design filled year here on the blog…I promise I’ll bring you more inspiration, new ideas, beautiful interiors, some fashion and keep you thinking and hopefully laughing too.

I think a lot of change is on the horizon.  I am optimistic and eagerly heading into the unknown future.  I am lucky to have my mom, sis DS, my best of friends and my guy TE there to help me stay on track.

2015 watch out.  I am coming for you.

xo

This week had its challenges, but it was still a step up from the last few. That’s reason enough to celebrate with a great dinner. 🥂
Tonight’s choice: denim on denim with a few Chanel accessories. Simple, effortless, and perfect for ending the week on a high note.
What’s your go-to dinner outfit?

Low light. Lacquered walls. A kitchen wrapped in hand-patinated brass. An antique mirrored bath with painted bamboo panels. A bedroom in floor-to-ceiling leopard print that somehow feels calm. Maximalism that whispers.
Save this one for the next time someone tells you maximalism can’t be serene. 🖤

Picked lemons from my mom’s tree in Claremont andPicked lemons from my mom’s tree in Claremont and then spotted lemons selling for $1.29 each at a grocery store in Beverly Hills. 🍋
Did some quick math and realized I might be sitting on a gold mine. 😂
New business idea? Lemon mogul? Freshly squeezed startup founder?
Stay tuned. Lol.
