Grey Kitchen Cabinets Brass Accents – This or That

March 15, 2016

Grey Kitchen Cabinets
Kitchen 1 on left vs. Kitchen 2 on right.

Soft grey kitchen cabinets with brass accents.  Today, I bring you a kitchen face off in or THIS or THAT.

Two kitchens whose designers had the same color palette in mind but whose design is very very different

Grey Kitchen 1 is designed by Suzann Kletzein. The kitchen is made distinctive because of its oversized hexagon tile floor with jagged edge leading into the wood flooring, the white square tile backsplash, and the frosted glass upper cabinet fronts. This space feels cheerful. The brass accents play a part in the design but they are subtle.

Grey Kitchen 2  is designed by Tobi Fairley.  This kitchen screams mature elegance.  The paneled cabinet doors with square sticking and the matching marble tile backsplash all blend into a monochromatic look.  In this kitchen, the designer went all the way with the bold brass accents – handles and knobs, faucet, island pendant lights and even brass built in shelving.

Tour these two kitchens and you decide which one you like best!

Grey Kitchen Cabinets #2 –  Monochromatic Elegant

I like both of these a lot but I think I am gravitating towards Kitchen 1. What do you say?

P.P.S.  Feel light headed this morning.  Am on an all protein diet!  Argghhhhhh! How much weight can a person lose in one week?  I know.  It is not wise to crash diet…but I am.  I thought I was doing really well with diet and exercise over the last few months (have been at the gym 5 days a week) and then I put on a bikini the other day in preparation for a little trip I am taking. Uh.  Hello?  Crash diet began immediately.  Ay yi yi.

P.P.P.S.  I think I am losing my mind due to all of the aforementioned dieting. I was at a sushi dinner party two nights ago at a neighbor’s house.  One of my neighbors was there, one who has lived right next door to me for 5 years.  I kept calling her Alex and Alexandra.  Finally she looked at me and said “Who is Alexandra?”  I looked at her and said “You?”.  She said, “No”.  Then I really panicked as I had absolutely no idea what her name was…I blanked.  This is my NEIGHBOR mind you.  I knew her name the week before when I wasn’t crash dieting.  She said, “My name is Vicki (*named changed to conceal her identity)”.  Everyone at the table including this French couple looked at me like I was an alien.  Grrrr…hmmm…  You might also ask what I ate at the dinner party since I am only eating protein.  I had raw tuna and water.  Oy.

I actually prefer KITCHEN 2 w/ the ‘parquet’ ! (don’t know the exact word in english :O let’s say the immaculate wooden floor then :D) Reminds me of Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen a little 🙂

Kitchen 2 is my favourite! It’s not totally traditional because it has that teal sideboard with the gold/brass etageres!

I love the glamour of kitchen #2. And the teal sideboard is a fantastic touch of color.

I love kitchen #2. As we all know brass is back in a big way. It shows that you’re up with today’s trends and aren’t afraid to take a risk. It’s an instant upgrade.

This Haussmannian apartment sits directly facing N This Haussmannian apartment sits directly facing Notre-Dame on the Left Bank, and @double_g_interior_design designed the interior to match that setting without competing with it. ✨
The approach was deliberate restraint: restored cornices kept intact, stained oak floors, limestone tones, a mix of vintage furniture and contemporary silhouettes. Every choice earning its place. The light does the rest. Bouncing off mirrors, moving through the neutral walls across the day. 🔅
→ Save this if you’re working with a Haussmannian space and want to let the architecture lead.

That level of control is what makes the result so specific. Rich materials, sculptural forms, cinematic lighting but nothing feels decorative for its own sake. Every detail was considered as part of one complete vision, and you feel it in every room. ✨

Natural light is the one thing every room has in c Natural light is the one thing every room has in common here, but the window shape, wall material, and time of day make each one feel like an entirely different experience. ☀️
It’s a reminder that light isn’t just a condition in a room. It’s a design decision.

This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a This 300-year-old Belgian château redesigned by a French interior designer and architect, Nathan Litera @nathanlitera is a beautiful reminder that good design isn’t about replacing the past, but learning how to live with it. You see it in the preserved millwork, the original fireplaces, the parquet floors, and then in the quiet contrast of contemporary lighting, cleaner silhouettes, and restrained color.
The magic is in the balance. The newer pieces don’t compete with the architecture. They feel intentional, calm, and completely at ease. Nothing is overly styled. Nothing distracts. History stays front and center while the space still feels entirely livable today.
Here’s how to bring that same feeling into your own home:
* Keep your base timeless — neutral walls, classic materials, architectural details if you have them
* Let contrast do the work — modern lighting or furniture against traditional bones instantly updates a space
* Edit your palette — keep colors within a tight range and let texture and form do the talking
* Invest in materials — marble, wood, plaster. They age beautifully and never feel out of place
It’s not about recreating a château. It’s about understanding the feeling that quiet kind of luxury that doesn’t need to announce itself.
Save this for when you want your space to feel layered, timeless, and truly considered. ✨
