NAILHEAD TRIM WALLS – DESIGN IDEA

October 4, 2013

Two rooms from interior designer Jeffrey Bilhuber – both with one extra design detail…a bit of nailhead trim on the walls.

Check out the studs lining the arches of in the foyer above.

Also, love the way nail heads were used like a decorative molding detail in the library living room below.

A subtle wall accent that makes a big difference. Studded walls.  I like.

What do you think of this DESIGN IDEA?  Take it or leave it?

Happy Friday!

It’s not for me, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be fabulous somewhere in Idaho or Montana.

I think it’s better if the studs stick to furniture, not walls!

OH I love this! Especially over the archways. Great detail.

I think it’s something that could definitely be taken too far if left in the wrong hands. But Generally speaking I love it, would look amazing paired with a grasscloth wallpaper.

I agree with Callan. And if you don’t feel like DIY’ing your nailheads, Phillip Jeffries has a “rivets” wallpaper using linen and grasscloth. Stunning.

New parquet floors, restored panelling, a bespoke staircase, and custom rugs. Every detail shaped by skilled French craftsmen and a serene, neutral palette drawn from the colours of Paris itself. ✨

Why do Paris apartments feel so much better than e Why do Paris apartments feel so much better than everything else?
While living in this cute 3 bed 2 bath apartment in the 6ème, I realized it comes down to a few things done really well:
• High ceilings
They create space without adding anything
• Herringbone wood floors
Classic, subtle, and never go out of style
• Crown molding + ceiling medallions
The detail that quietly elevates the entire room
• Interior French doors
They give you openness and separation at the same time
• Natural light
The one thing you can’t fake
I’m staying in this adorable pied-a-terre for a two months. It is my sister and brother in law’s place; they invited me to cozy up here on my own while they are back home in LA.
Every room keeps proving the same point. It’s not about adding more. It’s about getting the foundation right.
If you could only bring one of these Paris apartment design elements into your home, which one would it be?

I remember building each outfit around a coat or a scarf, with comfortable shoes that could take me anywhere, knowing I would be out for hours just walking.
Nothing overthought, just pieces that felt right for the pace of the day.
What would be your OOTD for a cold day in Paris?
