Small Bathrooms Designed to Inspire

August 16, 2019
  • Share

A bathroom deserves just as much attention as the rest of your home. A bathroom, whether large or small, should be a relaxing and pleasant space. I currently have bathrooms on my mind. The bathrooms where I live could use a redo most certainly.  I have absolutely no plans to do the baths in this house…ever but I can still bathroom dream!  I am particularly obsessed with a well designed small bathroom.   Soooooo…. needless to say, without agenda of a bath remodel anywhere in my future, I am still enjoying looking at small bathroom ideas. Here are some of the most incredible designs I found. I hope they spark some ideas from your own bathroom!

STANDALONE TUB MOMENT

share

This bathroom is simply stunning. Small but impactful, the neutral color palette is incredible. Exposed bath plumbing fixtures, a white stand alone bathtub and the shiplap walls all work for a fantastic vintage feel.

Love this tiled spot in light blue Palm Beach bathroom with a stand alone tub squeezed right under a window!!

Kate Marker Interiors does it again with this modern black and white stand alone tub sitting under a beautiful bay window.

BRIGHT AND LIGHT

share

The secret to small bathrooms – making sure they have plenty of sunlight so they appear brighter and bigger! This bathroom is breathtaking! Refined yet, playful this space bright and inviting. The antique-esque vanity, rug, and vase are all gorgeous in this light-filled room. The architecture of the room is a highlight – those ceilings! The casual outfit on display in front of the window keeps this space fun.

This space is a bit more baren and straight to the point. Beautiful white bathtub, geometric flooring, and a window + skylight. It looks so relaxing to take a bath underneath a skylight whether it’s day or night! The plant in the window was a nice touch.

I love this bathroom! This all-white bathroom is crisp and clean. The large window keeps the space bright and inviting. All of the other details are what really brings this space to life. The gold accents and interesting trinkets make this space special.

MARVELOUS MARBLE

share

Marble is everywhere in this bathroom – head to toe. While a little overwhelming, the mirror and pant break up the marble a bit. Interestingly, using all marble makes this small bathroom appear larger.

An all-white marble small shower is crisp, clean, and refined. The addition of rose gold hardware in this bathroom instantly creates more visual interest.

This marble bathroom is darker and moodier. The two-toned sink is very interesting in contrast to the white. The soap, light, and picture create focal points bringing this space together.

BREAKAWAY FROM ALL WHITE WITH WALLPAPER

share

It’s easy to spice up a small bathroom with wallpaper. The hard part is making sure not to overdo it. This large scale blue floral print wallpaper looks incredible paired with the marble sink and the antique glass sconces.  Powder room perfection in a Manhattan home designed by Katie Ridder

ACCENTS FOR A WHITE BATHROOM

share

Sometimes all white bathrooms reign supreme. But, they still need a few items to bring them to life. The rug and gallery wall in this bathroom is everything! While the little stack of books makes this bathroom feel lived in.

share

Simply stunning this all-white bathroom creates an interesting contrast with wood panel walls, a two-tone sink with gold hardware and other gold accents. I love this sink – I have never seen one quite like it.

Brighten up your small white bathroom instantly with a leafy plant! This bathroom seems to have a spa-like quality with such a lush plant growing in the window of the shower.

I hope this gave you plenty of inspiration to spice up your own bathroom! Read my entire article devoted to two-toned clawfoot tubs.

Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles an Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles and fancy things to make your house a home. In this picture, a plant, two chairs I found at the flea market, a layered rug situation and some modern art...de-cluttered space can be equally as inviting as one filled with memories and treasures. If you are stuck with how to decorate, I say keep it simple. Purge and start with the basics. Full disclosure, this is a shot of my living room from a few years ago when I first moved in...I didn’t even have drapes up when this was taken. I have since added pieces and changed out furniture and added a 2nd sofa...but it started super simple and it was lovely back then. When the world is swirling around us and making no sense, how are you keeping things simple at home? #socococozy #bringstylehome #cococozy
Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last year. Clueless as to what was to come. Was in Paris, with my mom, enjoying her summer apartment in the middle of the 6th arrondissement. I had just left the U.K. visiting friends for a few days in London and the Cotswolds. None of us knew that this summer 2020 would be so different. Today, I can only hope this time of tumult and great divides leads somehow to a future of calm and harmony. Going backwards in time is not an option. Pushing forward is. Happy Sunday to you. Where were you last summer? Where do you imagine you’ll be next? Xoxo #socococozy #bringstylehome
Incredible living room before and after as designe Incredible living room before and after as designed by my good friend Steve Jones @bettershelter! I went on a tour today. I also went on a tour a year ago when he first got the house. See my stories. Swipe to see what this room looked like before. Life lesson from a room transformation: When faced with the daunting and not so pretty, look to do the work, and you can make changes to bring out what is good. Right? This home by the way is going on the market soon and is in one of my favorite parts of town, View Park. What changes have you made lately that have turned bad into good? #socococozy #bringstylehome #remodeling #homerenovation #californiadreaming
“Be patient with yourself it has been a funky fe “Be patient with yourself it has been a funky few months in the world.” My friend Manon texted this advice to me today. She is right. A little patience and a lot of kindness to yourself and to others during these unusual times will go a long way.

Am in my living room right now looking at these pretty flowers in that white urn I found lying around. The urn works (see Flower Power highlights for backstory). Thinking on who I might send one of these bouquets to today as a little act of kindness. Still working on the patience piece of her advice! 🤪 Who might you send flowers to? How can you be more patient with yourself? Happy Saturday!

I wanted to design a super lush classically beautiful bouquet that would look good in any home during the fall/winter. Roses, eucalyptus and so much more in soft whites and greens.
