TWO SMALL DESKS MAKE HOMEWORK SEEM SO CHIC!

Home office with a Series 7 side chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in front of a light wood writing desk with scalloped hutch with green lining
A white Series 7 side chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955 (or a very good knockoff) is perfectly placed in front of this light wood writing desk. A scalloped cornered hutch is lined in green to add a bit of panache to this ultra small workspace. (above)

I like these two small writing desks…simple and elegant with fun twists of style. Modern seating and interesting lines make for wonderful vignettes. Desk areas just nice enough to hand write a sweet thank you note, or to jot down the day’s to-do list, or to do a quick browse of your daily design blogs on the internet.

If I had a desk like either of these, I would probably be inspired and write more for this post! 🙂

Black and white home office with a lucite desk chair with a cut out in the back and a wire lamp in front of a dark wood desk
P.S. Love the lucite desk chair with the cut out in the back and the whimsical wiry lamp in the photo directly above…!

P.P.S. Thank you Melanie of Coddington Design in San Francisco for giving me permission to use photos of these lovely spaces you designed!

I’ll take the second one please. Although, you know you can’t do any real work at it, it would be great to have something like this in your bedroom.

I love both spaces! I love how the first desk has the green painted on the inside to add some color. I would have never thought about that. It’s such a pretty shape. I really like the lucite desk chair. 🙂

    * I am on “DESK/STUDY” OVERLOAD right now, which is why it’s 12:30 a.m. & I got out of bed….. cuz I JUST couldn’t sleep!!!

My Sweetest & I spent HOURS w/ our designer today, finalizing (“HOPEFULLY”!)choices/changes I/we made for completly revamping my/our “old” study (the house is a whoppping 5 years old now & I’m stilllll “making it “ALLLL M*I*N*E”!)~~~ and despite all the “work”, the END RESULTS are SO WORTH IT!!!

… Thinking of the mix of woods, the granite, even that hardware, etc is better than you-know-what! (Boy, am I glad my huz doesn’t read this!)…

DREAMS… BIG-ONES like an Army Wife of 38 years carries in her heart (for her home), have all been coming to fruition in the last 5 years, and oh~~~ sometimes I feared I’d never “get here”… But I AM, and it’s suuuuch a fantastically FUN journey!!!!!!!!!(Well, except for when contractors/”someone” lets me down, THENNNNNNNN…it’s Excedrim Headache #32~~~ aargh! IN THE END, THO? WORTH IT ALL!!!!!!)~ I’m loving it so much!!!

Great blog~~~~~~ As “Ahnollllld” would say, “I villlll be baaacckk!)…

    Many THANKS,
    Linda in AZ *

That high writing desk is so stylish! You’ve got to be careful with the green you cant put it anywhere but the push in arms are a great feature and coupled with the height of the unit make this desk a nice space saver.
    Very well thought out!

Did you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-ÉlyséeDid you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-Élysées closes to traffic entirely?
No cars. Just people, walking straight down the center with the Arc de Triomphe ahead. Then I walked home over The Seine. It had just rained, and the sky was doing something extraordinary. And of course, the Eiffel Tower showed up right on cue.
Paris on a quiet Sunday is something else. đź–¤

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. đź—ż
→ Save this if you’re designing around a sculpture collection.
