The Statement Hallway – Design Inspiration

September 23, 2021
  • Share

The statement hallway is an interior design trend that is slowly growing in popularity, and is not going anywhere anytime soon. Upon researching what these thoughtfully designed hallways are called, there was no right or wrong answer. Hallway, corridor, entryway, vestibule, enfilade are all options but vary depending on their location within the home. For the purpose of this article, a statement hallway is a long hallway with either a wall of windows or a wall of windowed doors on either side of the hall.

The hallway above is located inside of a Maine barn-cottage-style home designed by G.P. Schafer. With a wall of windowed double doors on the right side, this statement hallway has a great color palette. The wood walls, stone floor, and sage green accents in this room create a warm welcome to the home.

This hallway by Studio Mcgee is not 100% a statement hallway as it is lacking a wall of windows on either side. It is, however, an enfilade-style hallway meaning the doors or in this case, arches are in a straight line for a clear line of vision down the hallway. Paired with multiple light fixtures and a simple rug this hallway lets the architecture speak for itself.

This hallway designed by Jake Arnold, is a second home to the Breaking Bad actor, Aaron Paul. Located in Idaho, this hallway has floor-to-ceiling windows on the right side and a wood display cabinet on the left. With warm wood tones, stone, and neutral fabrics this space has a color palette inspired by the landscape.

Located in Hobe Sound, Florida this statement hallway designed by G.P. Schafer has a tropical flair. Featuring a wall of windows on the left and doors on the right, this hallway focuses on the details. The wood-paneled ceiling, taupe curtains, long rug, plant, and chair work together to create a light yet, inviting space.

A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. A great parquet floor doesn’t just ground a room. It tells you everything about the history of the space. The patina, the pattern, the way light moves across it. These are the rooms that prove good bones never go out of style.
What’s your favorite parquet pattern?

Designer Emma Donnersberg took her own Paris apartment in the 7th arrondissement and used it to rewrite the rules — classical bones, contemporary everything else. Her Wave Sofa and U&Me Table anchor the living room in organic curves. In the kitchen, a green ceramic-wrapped island does the heavy lifting for color against all that neutral stone. And the dining room? A Carrara travertine fireplace that turns stone into the whole point of the room.
Curved, curated, and completely hers. 🤍

A balcony this beautiful deserves a tour. 🤍 A litA balcony this beautiful deserves a tour. 🤍
A little peek at one of my favorite outdoor spaces, which I designed years ago. The patterned tile, navy seating, white stucco, and layers of greenery make this balcony feel like a little room all its own.
I love how much personality you can create in a small outdoor space without making it feel overcrowded.

Want a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and invitingWant a bedroom that feels cozy, warm, and inviting? Start with these simple changes:
1. Layer your bedding. Mix sheets, a duvet, quilts, and throw blankets to create that plush, lived-in look.
2. Add warm lighting. Swap harsh overhead lighting for bedside lamps, sconces, or a statement light with a warm glow.
3. Bring in plenty of texture. Think linen, velvet, boucle, chunky knits, and soft rugs.
4. Keep the palette warm and calming. Soft neutrals, earthy tones, and muted colors instantly make a room feel more restful.
5. Mix in natural materials. Wood, rattan, woven accents, and stone add warmth and character.
6. Make the walls feel personal. Art, photographs, or even a statement headboard can make the room feel more finished.
7. Add something organic. A vase of branches, fresh flowers, or a little greenery can bring the room to life.
The goal isn’t to make your bedroom perfect. It’s to make it feel like a place you actually want to retreat to at the end of the day.
Save this for your next bedroom refresh. 🤎
