WEEKEND PHOTO: CHEERFUL COZY SPACES!

November 7, 2010
  • Share

Small kitchen with a wood floor, blue, green and yellow tile backsplash, white cabinets and drawers and stainless appliances

Two spaces I’m loving today…a cozy cheerful small kitchen with a wonderful tile backsplash and a colorful happy foyer with rich blue and white brocade wallpaper are perfect for my mood and plan for this Sunday. A nice start to the morning with a little lounging time at home with some tea and then out the front door to a full day (off to visit my mother today and need to find a dress for a big party I am going to next weekend).

I realize the whole concept of WEEKEND PHOTO is to have only one image that speaks for the weekend…well I can’t ever decide on just one photo lately since I’m feeling pulled in so many directions lately (in a good way)…hope you don’t mind. 🙂

Foyer with blue and white brocade wallpaper, a black chest of drawers, a white umbrella stand and a gold pendant light

Happy Sunday to you!

I had never been a fan of the color blue in my home as an accent color.. i usually lean toward warm tones – but we repainted our farmhouse and i am using shades of blue throughout the home. We painted our wooden floors up in the guest bedrooms blue and now our kitchen renovation just began and i am using white cabinets and thinking about painting the inside a shade of blue…. it really is a comfy… relaxing.. welcoming shade. thanks for the inspiration!

The wallpaper is so cheerful and fun! Is today’s wallpaper easier to put up and take down?

Try these little things to lift your mood today:
✨ Put on the playlist that makes you happy
☕ Grab your favorite coffee
👗 Wear the outfit that makes you feel confident
☀️ Step outside and soak up some sunshine
🤍 Or simply give yourself a few minutes to reset
Good energy doesn’t always have to come from something big. Sometimes, you can create it yourself.
Here’s to a feel-good Monday! 🖤

Heidi Caillier Design took this historic San Francisco home and layered floral wallpaper, striped drapery, checked linens, and antique textiles room after room without a single one feeling overdone. Marble mantels, gilt mirrors, brass fixtures, and warm wood floors do the quiet work of holding it all together.
This is what happens when “more” is chosen on purpose.
Save this for the masterclass in mixing prints. 🔖

A great bathroom isn’t just functional, it’s the one room in the house that’s entirely yours. The stone you choose, the way light hits the fixtures, the tub you actually want to sit in. These are the ones that get it exactly right.
Save this for your next bathroom renovation inspo and follow for more. 🖤

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸 Here’s a little throwback toHappy Labor Day! 🇺🇸
Here’s a little throwback to a Labor Day dinner party I hosted a few years ago, and honestly, we’d still do it this way. 🥂✨
Hosting this Labor Day? Keep it simple:
• Set the table with one statement detail + neutral basics
• Choose a menu you can prep ahead so you’re not cooking all night
• Add candles or flowers to make the table feel special
• Serve everything family-style for a more relaxed feel
• Don’t overthink it. The best dinners are the ones where everyone lingers a little longer 🤍
Save this for your next dinner party and send it to someone who’s hosting! 🍽️

The bouclé sofa isn’t a trend, it’s a commitment. The bouclé sofa isn’t a trend, it’s a commitment. Soft, sculptural, and impossible to walk past without wanting to sit down. The rooms that get it right pair it with something unexpected: a dramatic mural, an antique screen, a city skyline, a hand-laid mosaic floor.
