Easy Home Storage That Isn’t An Eyesore

March 27, 2018
  • Share

Time for a little spring organizing!

As a fan of cozy spaces, I’m often searching for ways to find extra room for storage in every area of the house. What I’m finding is that it’s possible to find homes for all your unsightly belongings with furniture or bins that you’ll want to show off.

My first tip would be to get rid of anything you do not need or use regularly. There is no reason to hang on to anything that isn’t adding value to your life. Haven’t worn that sweater in a year? Two years?? Donate it. Once you’ve narrowed it down and are only looking to store what you absolutely need, find chic ways to incorporate it into your decor!

Take a look (and shop!) some of my favorite finds for easy home storage that are pleasing to the eye (below)!

1. Pottery Barn Storage Platform Bed 2. White Montauk Woven Storage Bin 3. Serena & Lily Balboa Storage Trunk

4. Seminole Wood Storage Bench 5. H&M Jute Storage Basket

If you’re working with a small bedroom, a platform bed with areas for storage is a great way to go. Plus, you can add personality with bins, books, etc.! Similar idea here with a entryway bench, where you can sneak shoes, workout gear, dog leashes, or anything else you need before you walk out the door.

Woven bins and trunks for closets and bedrooms are an easy and sightly storage solution, especially if you don’t have room for a dresser.

1. Ballard Designs Marble Corner Shelf 2. cb2 Bounty Wire Baskets 3. Oversize Underbed Storage Bags

4. Bantom Storage Ottoman

Make more room in your shower with a corner rack that will not only keep your tub cleaner, but will have your household feeling more organized. A shelf for each member of the family!

If you don’t have a storage bed and or a ton of room in your closet, put your out-of-season clothes in underbed airtight bags. Out of sight, out of mind. I also love the idea of a storage ottoman that can serve as a coffee table/seating for your common area.

This carved Carroway Storage Console from Anthropologie opens to reveal ample storage space and perfectly complements both modern and traditional decor. Shop it by clicking here.

When you don’t have a ton of cabinet space in your kitchen, hanging your mugs on the wall is a cute and efficient way to free up space. Shop this vintage black mug rack from Pottery Barn by clicking here.

Happy organizing!

More from the COCOCOZY Design House! An upstairs bathroom. Was so excited last week to see this bath featured on House Beautiful’s site. White subway tile contrasted with black slate mosaic tile on the floor. The light fixture was initially specified for the foyer of the home but I liked the way it looked in here. I added some decorative molding around the wall mirror and tah dah...high constrast small bath! Thanks to design house partners @totousa deep soaking tub and plumbing fixtures. @caesarstone counters. @lampslus light fixture. @benjaminmoore white walls. 📷: @reidrolls

Things are bright and cheerful inside the COCOCOZY Design House thanks to all the @benjaminmoore Super White OC-152 painted walls. Here’s a glimpse of the dining room before and after the paint. Oh what a difference some paint makes! Swipe left to see the before. BTW don’t you love the decorative grill on the HVAC return. I had to have this made to make an air/heating exhaust look good! 💃🏾Tap profile link for full break down on my paint colors in the house.

Here is the COCOCOZY Design House kitchen as featured on House Beautiful’s website. To see more of the house check out my IG feed or tap profile link for blog post about the @housebeautiful reveal. Love this view of the kitchen. We built this massive arch between the dining and kitchen where there used to be a tiny door only! The kitchen is super functional and pretty. Did the two toned cabinetry thing and the farmhouse sink from @kohler. So funny 5 of the 9 COCOCOZY Design House partners products happen to be in this small vignette! [email protected] - counters. [email protected] - paint (Silent Night lower cabinets, Super White upper)
Everything including the kitchen sink makes this my dream kitchen!

Back balcony is looking good thanks to partner @cementtileshop! For today’s COCOCOZY Design House update, it is all about the back balcony of my 1930 Spanish Colonial Revival in the View Park area of Los Angeles. Swipe left to see the before! You should see the balcony now with a little seating and some plants added in. It looks good. I picked this quatrefoil tile pattern because it compliments the home’s architectural style and colors. I also thought tiling the balcony floor would make a fun trend moment in the house. One more thing, for the balcony wall, I had my COCOCOZY “Gate” textile pattern made into cement wall grates! So happy with the way this little bit of personalization makes this outdoor space work. Tap link on profile to see the balcony from every angle! Soon I will also reveal how it looks now that it is styled!
