Modern living room light herringbone wood floor black framed pictures white walls black wall sconces squishy daybed and armchair

Here are the 5 things I am loving about these two spaces…

1) Light hardwood floors in a herringbone pattern

2) Black framed pictures against a white wall

3) The color combination – blue, white, silver and black with a touch of green in the form of plants

4) The lighting – Love the 3 bold black wall sconces in the living room the two blue glass pendants in the dining room.

5) Seating – The squishy armless daybed and chair in the living room are so inviting.  The silver cafe chairs and banquette seating in the dining room are functional and stylish.

  1. My own kitchen and living room have a black/white/blue color palette. The two rooms are open to each other, and in the living room I have a modern black leather sectional, and in the kitchen I have white cabinets. I used to feel like the two rooms fought against each other, but then I realized I just needed to integrate them. The blue addition used to be turquoise, but I’m now moving toward more darker, moodier blues. I’m dying to paint the walls a smoky blue, but my husband thinks the room will be too dark. What does he know?
