My House

My Sunny Breakfast Room 360

November 6, 2017
  • Share

This is my little sunny breakfast room in my Spanish bungalow here in the Los Angeles area.  The decor is in progress as is every room in my house but love it in this room even if it is not fully done.  It is the brightest spot in the house in the mornings.  The perfect spot for an energizing start of the day.  So far I have decorated it with a pierced metal pendant light, an old mahogany cabinet I have had for years, some vintage chairs I had stained black, and a lovely lovely white Saarinen tulip table with a white marble top.  Next up is what to put on the walls…I have some ideas but would love your thoughts. Take a room tour and let me know!

Bernadaud china plates, vintage crystal and tea cups and blue woven placemats made of paper contrast nicely against the marble table top.

I bought these vintage “X” chairs years ago but just recently had them painted jet black.  Love these with the white tulip table.

Vintage tea cup in light blue and gold is one of my favorite from my small mismatched collection of old cups.

This is the view from the dining room into the breakfast room.  A little peak at my Sarah Robarts painting always makes me happy!

I have some big ideas on what I want to put on the walls.  Would love your input though if you have any ideas.

Stay tuned for changes!

Happy Monday.

A well-designed bunk room isn’t just for kids. It’s about making every guest feel like they got the best bed in the house. Built-in storage, thoughtful lighting, and bedding that actually makes you want to climb up top.
Save this for your next build or renovation inspo and follow for more. 🖤

This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎 This Toronto home just redefined “warm modern.” 🤎
Designer Ashley Montgomery layered reclaimed wood beams, brass hardware, and deep walnut millwork against soft plaster walls, and somehow every single room still feels calm. The olive built-ins in the living room, the arched oak doors, that brass shower enclosure in the primary bath... this is what happens when someone actually commits to a palette.

How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️How much summer can you fit into a few days? ☀️⛵️
I flew from Los Angeles to Nantucket for a very quick trip and I’m planning to find out.
Beautiful beaches, boats, gorgeous interiors, time with friends and one last little dose of August.
Turns out you don’t always need a whole week to feel like you got away. 🤍
So happy to be visiting bestie @francesgfayard and her husband Calvin and my godson Carter for a little last minute end of summer travel. New England at its best. Day 1 was a beautiful day. 🤩
You are not going to feel motivated every day. AndYou are not going to feel motivated every day. And you don’t have to.
Some days you’ll feel inspired and everything seems to click. Other days, you’ll question what you’re doing and wonder if any of it is actually working.
The important thing is not to mistake a slow day for a step backward.
You can keep going even when the motivation isn’t there. Some days, showing up is the progress.
Save this for the days when you need the reminder. 🤍

The best parts of Paris might not be on your itineThe best parts of Paris might not be on your itinerary. 🇫🇷
Some of my favorite travel moments are the ones you don’t plan: the pretty street you turn onto, the café you notice while walking by, the building you stop to look at for no particular reason.
So if you’re planning a Paris trip, don’t fill every hour. Leave room to wander.
