Best of Beauty

September 26, 2019

Best of beauty is something I finally feel like I can write about. I’ve been really into beauty products lately – browsing, researching, and trying new things! I figured its about time I share some of my favorite finds. A variety of these products I’ve tried and loved, other are I’ve researched and are on my list, and others my friends have raved about.

Prime | Concealer | Tinted Moisturizer | Foundation | Finishing Powder | Highlighter | Blush | Bronzer

I’m not huge on a full face of makeup but once in a while, it’s great for an event or special day. This Hourglass primer has over 6k reviews on Sephora! It keeps makeup on while keeping your skin smooth and reduces the visibility of redness, pores, and wrinkles. The Nars conceal is considered a cult classic. Perfect for under eyes and blemishes alike! Most days I opt for a tinted moisturizer when it’s warm out. This Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is relatively new and completely raved about. I picked it up and love it! Last up for face is the Este Lauder foundation. This is a fan favorite and is perfect for a special event! It covers skin flawlessly.

For the rest of the face, a setting powder is needed. I love this Laura Mercier one. It keeps my skin from getting oily. Nothing quite beats a great highlighter and Becca’s range doesn’t disappoint. There is a range of colors from super subtle to bold. When it comes to blush Tarte is my go-to. Not too sparkly, their blushes give the best natural flush. Last up, the Fenty bronzer is the best option on the market. It blends flawlessly and comes in 8 shades – that simply incredible!

Lipstick | Lip Gloss | Lip Treatment-Tint | Mascara | Eyeshadow Palette | Brow Pomade

Next up for makeup is lips and eyes. YSL is up first. This is a luxury lip for a special treat. I love this mid-range pink. Sometimes you just need a great lipgloss. Luckily Nars is known as being one of the best lip gloss brands. The best thing is that it isn’t sticky! I often lean towards a colored lip treatment. This Dior one is raved about and for a good reason. It comes in a variety of colors and finishes plus it feels great on the lips.

For eyes, I love to keep it simple. Great lashes, subtle eyeshadow, and a great brow. I wear mascara almost every day. Sometimes my eyelashes get dry and are in need of some help. I pick up this Dior lash primer when my lashes need extra moisture. This Marc Jacobs eyeshadow palette has a stunning range of shades that work year-round. Plus the packaging is nice and slim, unlike some other palettes. I like to fill in my brows a bit – but not too much. This Anastasia brow pomade is incredible! At $18 it lasts me at least a year and my brows are always good to go.

Face Cleanser |Moisturizer | Night Mask | Eye Cream | Sunscreen | Resurfacing Mask | Lactic Acid Treatment | Sleeping Lip Mask

Skincare has been all the rage lately and I’m definitely addicted too. This Farmacy cleanser is a makeup removing balm and will remove all of your makeup with ease! Next up is a moisturizer, this Kiehl’s option is perfect for super sensitive skin and can be used year-round. I also love to use it on my neck and chest. This night mask by Fresh is for minimizing fine lines and it works! I always wake up in the morning looking fresher and my skin looks more subtle. I’m a big eye cream fan and this Tatcha option is great. It’s lightweight, soothing, and best of all actually works.

Next up is sunscreen. We all know wearing sunscreen every day is important to keep our skin as young as possible and prevent skin cancer. This Goop option is incredible, lightweight, and doesn’t clog my pores! I’ve been eyeing this Drunk Elephant mask for forever. It is raved about by everyone and is said to completely change the appearance of your skin. Getting rid of all of those little marks and discoloration spots. I’ll have to follow up on this on. Sunday Riley is known for this treatment. This is also great for getting rid of marks and discoloration. It has helped me fade old acne marks and sunspots! Last up is the Laneige lip mask. This balm is simply incredible for the price! It fixes dry lips almost instantly.

Shampoo | Conditioner | Hair Mask | Dry Shampoo | Styling Creme | Oil | Curl Styler | Damage Repair Treatment

Last up for the best of beauty is hair. I was in the market for a new shampoo and I picked up this Bumble and Bumble one. It smells great, really cleans, and keeps my hair feeling cleaner longer. I picked up a Bumble and Bumble conditioner to go along with it. This one is great because it doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it greasy! Everyone needs a good deep conditioner once and awhile. This Briogeo one is great! My hair looks so much healthier after using it. We can’t forget about a good dry shampoo. My friends have been raving about this one from IGK. It instantly makes hair look fresh no matter how dirty it is.

This Living Proof style extender keeps hair smooth and how it’s supposed to be. It primes, detangles, and corrects the cuticles! I’ve been a Moroccan Oil fan for years! It’s great for curly and straight hair. It keeps hair healthy-looking and helps prevent split ends. Deva Curl is great for all the curly hair girls out there! It takes a natural curl and makes it more manageable and smoother. The best part – your hair will be super soft and frizz-free. Olaplex has been raved to me by so many people! It’s known for completely repairing peoples hair after too much styling, bleaching, or damage. My hair breaks some when I wear it up in a tight bun and this completely rebinds that part of my hair!

Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles an Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles and fancy things to make your house a home. In this picture, a plant, two chairs I found at the flea market, a layered rug situation and some modern art...de-cluttered space can be equally as inviting as one filled with memories and treasures. If you are stuck with how to decorate, I say keep it simple. Purge and start with the basics. Full disclosure, this is a shot of my living room from a few years ago when I first moved in...I didn’t even have drapes up when this was taken. I have since added pieces and changed out furniture and added a 2nd sofa...but it started super simple and it was lovely back then. When the world is swirling around us and making no sense, how are you keeping things simple at home? #socococozy #bringstylehome #cococozy
Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last year. Clueless as to what was to come. Was in Paris, with my mom, enjoying her summer apartment in the middle of the 6th arrondissement. I had just left the U.K. visiting friends for a few days in London and the Cotswolds. None of us knew that this summer 2020 would be so different. Today, I can only hope this time of tumult and great divides leads somehow to a future of calm and harmony. Going backwards in time is not an option. Pushing forward is. Happy Sunday to you. Where were you last summer? Where do you imagine you’ll be next? Xoxo #socococozy #bringstylehome
Incredible living room before and after as designe Incredible living room before and after as designed by my good friend Steve Jones @bettershelter! I went on a tour today. I also went on a tour a year ago when he first got the house. See my stories. Swipe to see what this room looked like before. Life lesson from a room transformation: When faced with the daunting and not so pretty, look to do the work, and you can make changes to bring out what is good. Right? This home by the way is going on the market soon and is in one of my favorite parts of town, View Park. What changes have you made lately that have turned bad into good? #socococozy #bringstylehome #remodeling #homerenovation #californiadreaming
“Be patient with yourself it has been a funky fe “Be patient with yourself it has been a funky few months in the world.” My friend Manon texted this advice to me today. She is right. A little patience and a lot of kindness to yourself and to others during these unusual times will go a long way.

Am in my living room right now looking at these pretty flowers in that white urn I found lying around. The urn works (see Flower Power highlights for backstory). Thinking on who I might send one of these bouquets to today as a little act of kindness. Still working on the patience piece of her advice! 🤪 Who might you send flowers to? How can you be more patient with yourself? Happy Saturday!
