Tudor House Tour

September 25, 2019
  • Share

This Tudor House Tour is a spectacular home in LA. I love hearing about renovations and bringing old homes back to life which is exactly what happened to this home. The original idea was to re-do this home back to its original glory but after some work, a lot of structural issues came up. They got a bit more than they bargained for but were able to really customize this space to their needs. The final design turned out amazing!

VELVET LIVING ROOM

share

First up is the more formal living room. As such a very bright and light space the choice to do a darker colored sofa is perfect. The velvet green with wood accents complements the room nicely. I love the mirror on top of the fireplace and the number of plants.

This view of the living room highlights the fireplace and back wall. The dual colored fireplace is a great detail to add some emphasis. I love the shelving hatch full of books and the addition of one picture frame. A simple space that is still very visually interesting.

BLACK AND WHITE KITCHEN

share

Next up on the Tudor House Tour is a stunning black and white kitchen. Such a bold and refreshing design! The black counters mixed with white counters and a white sink is the perfect middle ground. The small wood shelves are also a great detail to this design.

This image beautifully highlights the gold hardware. It looks amazing on top of the matte black. The tile backsplash has a beautiful luminous quality adding a great amount of light back into the space.

The windows in this kitchen keep it light and airy! There is nothing better than a ton of sunlight in a kitchen. I love the gold facet! Such a great detail to keep the gold hardware theme going.

AN INCREDIBLE BOOK FILLED SITTING ROOM

share

This sitting area is a book lovers dream! The wall of books looks amazing and the ladder adds a sense of playfulness. The combination of rug, artwork, and table create a very visually interesting space. There is a lot going on but it works together beautifully.

This corner of the sitting room is a bit simpler and more casual but just as cozy looking. That chair looks like an incredible place to read a book or relax. The plant in the corner was the perfect choice to add something interesting to that area without overwhelming the space.

At last more views of that jaw-dropping book wall. I will never get over how much I love it. The orange chair in this side of the room is a nice pop of color and a focal point. The doorway leads to a bright and airy looking study space!

A BRIGHT AND AIRY DINING ROOM NOOK

share

Such a dreamy dining room! I love the array of windows and white curtains. They filter the light to create an amazing ambiance. The black and white table was a great choice to merge the black chairs with this bright space. The chandelier looks like the perfect choice for this room.

This photo shows off two areas that aren’t otherwise photographed. A nice looking white sofa seating area and the perfect island for entertaining. Plus hints of a gorgeous looking breakfast nook in the back corner. I wish there were more photos of these spaces!

BOLD WALLPAPER POWDER ROOM

share

This bathroom has a bold and powerful wallpaper. It looks amazing with the white details, the plant, and gold accents. I love the way all of those items come together to create this powder room. The choice to do half wallpaper half white was the perfect solution.

COZY LIGHT-FILLED BATHROOM

share

This bathroom has some interesting architecture thanks to the Tudor style home. The archway over the tub/shower creates such a unique looking space. I love the addition of the rug and the wood-framed mirrors.

INSPIRED BEDROOM

share

The master bedroom has a very simple bed design. A black frame and all-white bedding with a pop of color on an accent pillow. I love the soft grey nightstand and the wall-mounted lamp. Such a concise yet interesting space.

share

This side of the bedroom is definitely the focal point. These arched book shelved are so beautiful and bring this simple room to life. Plus these shelves also offer a ton of hidden storage. I love the mixing and matching of book stacks and the addition of other treasures.

MASTER BATHROOM ESCAPE

share

The master bathroom is straight out of a magazine. I’m in love with the light wood vanity with black hardware. The architecture of this area is amazing! The archway creates the perfect nook for this space. The double sinks and two black framed mirrors are a great touch.

share

This black clawfoot tub looks like it belongs in a spa! That corner was made for this tub. Those windows are amazing! The combination of the black and white is perfectly balanced and the pop of green from the plant adds a nice addition.

share

This shower looks spectacular. Bright and light this all-white shower looks relaxing. The addition of the wood table and plant is the perfect way to spice this space up a bit.

CHILDRENS BEDROOM

share

This children’s bedroom is incredibly bright and cheerful. Having wallpaper on one wall is a great way to add interest without attacking the room in wallpaper. I enjoy this print and color combination. That nightstand and lamp are a darling combination. Overall, love this space.

Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles an Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles and fancy things to make your house a home. In this picture, a plant, two chairs I found at the flea market, a layered rug situation and some modern art...de-cluttered space can be equally as inviting as one filled with memories and treasures. If you are stuck with how to decorate, I say keep it simple. Purge and start with the basics. Full disclosure, this is a shot of my living room from a few years ago when I first moved in...I didn’t even have drapes up when this was taken. I have since added pieces and changed out furniture and added a 2nd sofa...but it started super simple and it was lovely back then. When the world is swirling around us and making no sense, how are you keeping things simple at home? #socococozy #bringstylehome #cococozy
Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last year. Clueless as to what was to come. Was in Paris, with my mom, enjoying her summer apartment in the middle of the 6th arrondissement. I had just left the U.K. visiting friends for a few days in London and the Cotswolds. None of us knew that this summer 2020 would be so different. Today, I can only hope this time of tumult and great divides leads somehow to a future of calm and harmony. Going backwards in time is not an option. Pushing forward is. Happy Sunday to you. Where were you last summer? Where do you imagine you’ll be next? Xoxo #socococozy #bringstylehome
Incredible living room before and after as designe Incredible living room before and after as designed by my good friend Steve Jones @bettershelter! I went on a tour today. I also went on a tour a year ago when he first got the house. See my stories. Swipe to see what this room looked like before. Life lesson from a room transformation: When faced with the daunting and not so pretty, look to do the work, and you can make changes to bring out what is good. Right? This home by the way is going on the market soon and is in one of my favorite parts of town, View Park. What changes have you made lately that have turned bad into good? #socococozy #bringstylehome #remodeling #homerenovation #californiadreaming
“Be patient with yourself it has been a funky fe “Be patient with yourself it has been a funky few months in the world.” My friend Manon texted this advice to me today. She is right. A little patience and a lot of kindness to yourself and to others during these unusual times will go a long way.

Am in my living room right now looking at these pretty flowers in that white urn I found lying around. The urn works (see Flower Power highlights for backstory). Thinking on who I might send one of these bouquets to today as a little act of kindness. Still working on the patience piece of her advice! 🤪 Who might you send flowers to? How can you be more patient with yourself? Happy Saturday!
