Colorful Spanish Colonial Home Tour

October 16, 2019
  • Share

This gorgeous colorful Spanish colonial home is located in Franklin Hills. It was designed by Reath Design! When I ran across this home tour I was immediately intrigued by how well this home does color. This home is full of bold color choices and prints. I didn’t think it was possible to create a home with so much going on but this house makes it look easy. It’s not my go-to style but it’s incredibly beautiful and brilliantly designed. The darker feel to the home is perfect for the fall season!

ENTRANCE AREAS

First up is the entrance area to this stunning home. The space offers a super cozy area that gives a great first impression of the home. The orange-toned rug and blue based painting complement each other nicely. The bench is a nice touch to create a comfortable space to take your shoes off or set down a purse/jacket. The shoe rack adds in a homey feel. The bookshelf around the windows is a genius idea!

This image highlights the hallway between the entryway and the kitchen. This home has some impeccable architecture – the archways through this home are beautiful. The Tuscan red color of the walls and ceiling add a nice warmth to the room. My favorite part of this home is the rug runner. The rug ties together the red and blue perfectly! Plus the pattern adds an interesting addition to the area.

LITTLE CORNERS

If the entry area could get any better – it does.. This coat area is one of my favorite spots in this home. The colors between the walls, door, rug, and coats create a beautiful palette. The area to the left of the coats is perfect for that spot! The darker wood looks amazing with the other colors in this space.

This shot of the home looks like a bathroom between the entry and the kitchen space. That is perfect for access to the bathroom from both sides. The wallpaper is an unusual print but it works! The scale of the pattern is great. The green looks great with the moody brown color.

A YELLOW KITCHEN

Yellow as an entire kitchen is such a bold choice. I never would have thought to do it. Even the walls are yellow! Strangely it works. The yellow on yellow grabs your attention while the dark hardware adds a nice contrast. The island is such a gorgeous design. I love the shelf space on the end.

The stained glass door adds the perfect touch of color to break up all of the yellow. I love the design and color choices for the window. The dark brown countertops also balance the yellow nicely.

A view of the sink! I love the large white sink being placed under a large window. The light fixture hangs perfectly down the center of the window and adds a nice pop of white to complement the sink. The open wood shelving looks amazing and adds a personal touch to the space.

DINING ROOM

The dining room is breathtaking! The corner of windows adds the most amazing light and detail to this room. The larger orange light fixture looks incredible with the pops of orange in the wallpaper and throw pillows. The dark blue corner booth is my favorite part about this room! It looks amazing!

Another view of the dining room shows off the gorgeous yellow walls and more of the corner windows. I love the shape of this room! The chairs are a beautiful shape and design. The darker table/chairs complement the rest of the colors in the room.

LIVING ROOM DETAILS

This reading nook is what dreams are made of! This is the perfect corner to relax, unwind, and explore the home. The blue chair, gold-toned pillow, and red curtains look really good together. I’m really glad the shelves are a soft pink color – they would stand out weirdly if they were white.

A farther view of the dining room shows off the full bookshelf and chair. The ottoman makes the chair extra cozy and relaxing. The bright magenta rug adds a nice pop of color to complement the blue chair.

This mysterious corner of the room is a very intense looking chess area. The light perfectly illuminates the patterned chairs. I love the magenta checkerboard pattern.

One of the simpler areas of this home is this piano space. More of a minimalist approach with the mauve walls and painting. The bright blue lamp and yellow stool add a nice touch of color. The vase of flowers adds a delicate touch to the room.

ENTRANCE AND A DREAMY DRESSING ROOM

This transitional hallway has another one of the stunning stained glass windowed doors. This space is such a magical combination of colors. The multi-colored rug and teal wall look amazing with the stained glass window.

A magical looking hallway! The dark teal makes the light pink really pop. The open door with bright orange inside really makes this photo complete.

Inside the dressing room is a cozy window seat. The muted green color is serene looking. The matching pillow and curtains create an interesting relationship. The bright yellow stool pulls out the yellow in the rest of the room.

The dressing room in this home has a very vintage feeling to it. The pink paneled walls and curtains look very retro together with the table. The glass on top of the fabric is a unique choice. I love the vintage-looking vanity mirror! This room would not be the same without that window.

BEDROOM + BATHROOM

A bold combination of colors and textures here. The dark teal walls look great with the red curtains. The white in the bedding adds a nice brightness to the room. The headboard has an interesting quilting quality that adds texture. I love the decor pillows!

This moody green bathroom looks like its straight out of a luxurious restaurant. The wallpaper is gorgeous with the dark green and wood countertop. I love the yellow and green rug. It adds the perfect pop of color and pattern to the space.

MORE SITTING AREAS

An all dark magenta/red seating area? I would have never thought – yet, this home pulls it off. I love the tall window. The window adds in the perfect touch of greenery from outside. The couch and the walls are not quite the same color which allows them to complement each other.

This last sitting area in this moody color-packed home takes in a tri-colored design. The couch is amazing in this space! The teal, magenta, and mustard color look incredible together. The teal walls and yellow-toned table create an interesting comparison to the sofa.

The other view of this room shows off the entranceway and a desk area. The arched entranceway is incredible! The orange and grey colored desk adds an interesting combination of colors with the rest of the room. The hanging graphic art adds in a nice detail to tie the colors together.

Behind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOBehind-the-scenes: Fun work trip to visit the COCOCOZY bedding collection at the Welspun showroom in New York. Met with some buyers, had a fun time with the Welspun team, then capped off the weekend with a visit with friends. It is a long process to get bedding in stores across the country...showing the collections at textiles market is one of the first steps!
If you're interested in learning how I have gotten @cococozy products into stores around the country over the years including in major retailers...follow along...just one entrepreneur's journey. :)

Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celeb Today is my birthday but...I don’t want to celebrate...I want to help.
I want to make a meaningful impact in our greater Los Angeles community suffering from the fires. I invite you to join me in transforming birthday wishes into support for one local organization on the ground in Pasadena/Altadena.
I have made a contribution today already to the LA Fire Relief Fund created by @victorybiblechurch in Pasadena. They are actively assisting families in need in both Pasadena and Altadena who have been affected by the devastating Eaton Fire.
Although I don't have a personal connection to Pastor DeCuir or the church, I was searching for an organization that is helping in the Altadena area. A well respected civil rights attorney I follow @leemerrittesq is on the ground helping the church members and community members with legal services in the wake of the fires. I hope by contributing to their efforts, we can extend a helping hand to those facing significant challenges during this difficult time
To donate, please visit their website at https://vbcpasadena.org/ (link in bio as well). Every contribution, no matter the size, brings hope and relief to those who need it most. Tell them you heard about them from me.
Your generosity to the Los Angeles community is the best birthday gift I could ask for.

Happy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this freshHappy New Year! 🎉✨ As we step into this fresh chapter, I’m reminded of the beauty of starting anew and I like recommitting to goals at the top of the year. Nothing set in stone but just an overall vision of what I'd like to do and who I would hope to help along the way.
This year, my mantra is: **dream big, act boldly, treasure the small joys, continue to lead with kindness and to have as much empathy as possible for others **. Just a few things...😂
I’m also deeply committed to helping people who follow along to achieve their dreams. I'll be curating captivating interior design inspiration with COCOCOZY that will hopefully give you ideas and dreams for your own space. I will also be empowering you to realize the value of your influence with Chirpyest by earning cash back for sharing and shopping. I hope to be open about the journey of the COCOCOZY product line. I want to share real time behind the scenes how the line is being built and how we are growing Chirpyest; both examples of the not so linear journey of building businesses from the ground up. I hope these stories spark you to push your own boundaries and shake out of your comfort zones.
Lastly, in 2025, I’m committed to surrounding myself with people who have a positive vibe about them while striving to be that same light for others. Luckily, I have a great start on this with an amazing family and fantastic group of friends - a fantastic support network.
My wish for you in 2025: May this year bring you clarity, courage, and the confidence to pursue all that makes you happy.
What’s one thing you’re committing to in 2025? Let’s inspire each other in the comments! 💬❤️
Let's get to this...am ready 2025!
