My Living Room: Embracing The Morning Light

February 21, 2018
  • Share

It truly is the little things that make life happy. A view of my living room embracing the morning light!

Every morning when I wake up, walk down the stairs and see this morning light in my living room, I am filled with such great joy! It’s easy to start the day with a positive mind when greeted with such a cheerful and bright glow.

The past few years have been a roller coaster for me (to say the least) — and I’m feeling extremely grateful to have found this Spanish style Beverly Hills house after making the difficult decision to sell my tiny little cottage in the Hollywood Hills.

The radiance in this special spot of my “home for now” reminds me to embrace all the newness that comes with this next chapter!

Having a space in your home that instantly gives you happiness is key. I encourage you to find a spot — ANY spot — within a few steps of you as you wake up that will lift you up as you start your day. Clean up a corner, put a few simple things in it that you love, and voilá… your literal happy place!

The Blue Sitting Nook

But first, coffee… in this nook! I love these refurbished flea market chairs paired with this fun side table from Serena & Lily. You can shop it by clicking here.

The big window in the blue nook creates a wonderful shadow on the floor. I crave this time of day because of it!

This painting by Brian Wills brings such a nice pop of color to the room. I love how it compliments the blue-greens in the COCOCOZY area rug and throw blanket.

And goodness, I’ve had this coffee table for so long I almost can’t remember where I got it. I believe it’s from Crate + Barrel from over 15 years ago! Don’t do the math…

The brass swans are another flea market find!

I spiced up this couch from Restoration Hardware with fun pillows and a throw, all from COCOCOZY. You can shop the collection by clicking here.

Vintage Chairs

All of the chairs (other than the couch) are vintage flea market finds that I have had refurbished. Which makes me wonder… would you like to see a post specifically on how to redo chairs?? Let me know!

These heavy woven cotton drapes with grommets were purchased while I was traveling with my mom in Paris. Such a fun (and cheap!) find!

Here are a few ideas to give you a head start on creating your own vibrant space (below)!

1. Amagansett Zig Side Table 2. Fence Linen Pillow 3. Lyrical Rug 4. White Marble & Gold Coasters 5. Logo Throw

I hope this gives you the inspiration to find that special spot in your home. I love seeing my living room in the morning light. The room changes throughout the day. And always remember to appreciate the little things life throws your way, for those are often the big things.

xo!

Love this light filled room and your house is divine Coco! I’m inspired and hoping to find a place like it when I move to LA this summer from Cape Cod to be near my daughter in MDR. And, like you, I have a really tough decision to sell my tiny little beach cottage that I absolutely adore but it will be an adventure!

    So glad I found you!!

    Coco,

Thank You for the blog posts regarding the Spanish Colonial you’ve been working on. We just bought one in Whittier for my mother-in-law and trying to pick exterior paint colors, etc. Good luck!

The Mute. 220 sqm of Haussmannian light in eastern The Mute. 220 sqm of Haussmannian light in eastern Paris, dressed entirely in white.
Old-world plasterwork meets contemporary furniture, and warm brown-stained wood quietly anchors every room. A conversation between heritage and modernity that never raises its voice. By @atelierdaaa 🤍

Did you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-ÉlyséeDid you know one Sunday a month, the Champs-Élysées closes to traffic entirely?
No cars. Just people, walking straight down the center with the Arc de Triomphe ahead. Then I walked home over The Seine. It had just rained, and the sky was doing something extraordinary. And of course, the Eiffel Tower showed up right on cue.
Paris on a quiet Sunday is something else. 🖤

This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millo This St Germain apartment, designed by Félix Millory @felixmillory , is defined by two things: a tightly controlled material palette and a sculptural art collection that runs through every room without exception.
Travertine frames every doorway. Dark smoked oak covers the joinery and cabinetry. Grey marble runs across the kitchen counters and island. Within that framework, figurative sculptures on the shelves, a large totemic piece at the entrance, stone forms on the dining table, a large-format artwork in the kitchen. Every room has at least one object that demands your attention. 🗿
→ Save this if you’re designing around a sculpture collection.
