Former professional hockey player, Mike Green and his wife Courtney, took on a renovation project back in 2017. After playing ten seasons for the Washington Capitals, Mike wanted to settle down in the city with his family. They were open to the idea of a full renovation project. When they found a rundown 1914 townhouse located in the Kalorama Triangle neighborhood, they felt like it was the right fit.

With the help of celebrity interior designer, Jeremiah Brent, they were able to transform the space into the home of their dreams. The structure features large windows and skylights allowing a flood of natural light. The home is bright and clean but features neutral textures and details. The custom white oak floors and Italian Paonazzo marble kitchen were the two key elements that elevated the townhouse.

How to Go Glamping This Fall

November 3, 2021
  • Share

I’ve been looking up fun outdoor activities for fall. Recently, I started working out again with a great personal trainer. Some of you have probably seen my workouts on my Instagram stories. Really enjoying the weight training.  On off days, I go for a walk up Runyon Canyon here in L.A.  I have never been a huge hiker or camper but thought it might be nice to mix things up on the workout with some real outdoorsy options. So I started thinking about other outdoor physical activities that I can do. Then it dawned on me.  Fly fishing. No.  Rock climbing. No.  Moutaineering. No. Trekking. No.  Moountain biking. No.  What about glamping?

What is Glamping?

Glamping is a combination of the words “glamorous” and “camping.” It is the perfect balance of modern luxury and camping – with no physical exertion required (my trainer would be disappointed in me for celebrating inertia). For those who don’t love the idea of being out in nature, glamping might be the right option for you. There are many different places to glamp across the USA. Popular locations include Colorado, Vermont, California, and New York. Grab your closest group of girlfriends and plan a fun weekend getaway. Step outside and enjoy nature with a modern twist.

There is something nostalgic about Craftsman homes. An American architectural staple that became mostly used between 1900 and 1929. Craftsman homes use a variety of natural materials to achieve their overall design aesthetic. I had the amazing opportunity to explore the home of Chris Erric Maddox and Thomas Renaud. The home is located in Altadena, California.

The home was built in 1925, but now features modern touches like Clare Paint and Stoneland USA countertops. Maddox and Renaud kept the original charm of the Craftsman style design but gave it a modern twist. The renovation and design changes started at the end of April 2021 and finished just under six weeks in May 2021.

These photos have already been seen on my Instagram Stories. I decided to do a poll about Montecito homes. I’ve always loved the architecture in the Santa Barbara area. The homes are massive and beautifully designed. The poll did so well, which I didn’t expect. I received DMs about how much my followers enjoyed it. There is something special about Montecito. That’s probably why so many celebrities are making the move. Below you will find the most liked homes from my poll. I even pulled one must-see room from each home for more interior design inspiration.

The image above used to be owned by Rob Lowe. He made the move to Montecito over 26 years ago. He built this lavish colonial-style home and lived there with his family for 14 years before selling it. Rob and his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, have invested in many different properties in the area.

I’ve already started to do my own holiday shopping – at least a little of it.  Since I’ve been so busy with work, for the first time ever, I figured I should get ahead and start finding gifts for my friends and family members. I even started to find some gifts for myself.:)  To my detriment, I often think about myself when shopping for others. I know. Not cool. Not only is it selfish but this can also be a very problematic way of holiday shopping as it increases the volume of items you are buying.  One for them, two for me.  One for her, three for me.  The picture of my patio above features some of the giftable items I bought on my latest supposed holiday shopping trip –  items to either keep or to gift. For example, loving these cute baskets, napkins, mugs, and even a coffee maker.   Do you do that too?  Spy items that could make good gifts and then buy them for your own home?  Well here’s what I found on this holiday season online shopping trip…

October is almost over which means the holidays will be here before we know it. Recently, I overheard a discussion about shopping earlier for the holidays because of the pandemic. Companies are still having shipping delays and are low on inventory. It made me think that I probably should order the things I know I’ll need now. It’s better to get holiday shopping out of the way anyway. Less stress for us later and more free time to spend with our loved ones! Check out my list of essentials to help prepare you for the holidays. Whether you’re looking for a new skillet or napkins for Thanksgiving, I have got you covered.

Fall fashion is my favorite. I can never have enough cozy sweaters, oversized jackets, and stylish booties. It’s important to invest in staples for the season. If you are going to splurge, then you should splurge on the right luxury items. Your wardrobe should have a balance of staple pieces and a few trendy items. Many people like to splurge on trendy items that just end up sitting in the back of your closest the following year because it’s out of style. Let’s all agree to stop being those people. Time to be a smart and stylish shopper for the fall season.

The art of maximalism can be challenging to master. There is a thin line between a space feeling inspired or overwhelming. These office spaces are filled with saturated colors and fun patterns but do so in a tasteful and refined way. The interior above was designed by G.P. Schafer, a New York-based architectural firm founded in 2002 by Gil Schafer. The office space is actually Gil’s personal office within G.P. Schafer’s New York office. The design is inspired by Gil’s interests and years of collecting both furniture and art.

Television personality and entrepreneur, Whitney Port, and husband Tim Rosenman, purchased their first home together back in 2017. After welcoming their first child, they decided to wait a little bit to renovate their home. When the moment was right Port teamed up with interior designer, Marie Flannigan, She was able to create the bathroom of her dreams. One detail that stands out to me is the Calacatta Primavera marble countertops that flow into the floor. The multi-colored marble is truly the star of the room. Port didn’t want the bathroom to be too trendy and it needed to be functional. Flannigan figured out a way to incorporate traditional designs with stylish brass accents that were perfect for Port’s growing family. This bathroom feels elegant and modern. Making it the perfect sanctuary for relaxation.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, I wanted to put a spotlight on Hispanic interior designers. One thing I love about interior design is that it’s subjective. Everyone has their own style because we all come from different backgrounds. We are influenced by different cultures, art, and entertainment. It reflects in the way we dress and the way we decorate our homes. I’ve selected five talented Hispanic designers that have mastered the art of designing a space that is inspired.

About Hispanic Heritage Month

The duration of Hispanic Heritage Month started on September 15th and will end on October 15th. The month is about celebrating the culture and historical influence of Hispanic American citizens. During this month, we recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans whose ancestors came from Mexico, the Caribbean, Spain, and Central and South America. Their achievements have impacted modern-day art, design, entertainment, and more in the United States.

Some of you already know that I’m a fan of French architecture. I came across this stunning 17th century farmhouse called Domaine de la Cavalière. For those who don’t know, “calvaliére” means “horsemen” in French. The domaine sits on 100 acres in Provence, France. The structure looks on to the Luberon Mountains and is surrounded by beautiful vineyards. Celebrity designer, Ken Fulk, repaired and redecorate the structure to transform it into the perfect getaway for families. Fulk’s design features a balance of french antiques and modern decor. The main farmhouse includes two kitchens, multiple living rooms, eight bedrooms, and a wine cave. The barn was turned into a guest house for the caretaker.

Domaine de la Cavaliére is owned by an American couple, Jeffrey and Laurie Ubben. Jeffrey Ubben is the founder of ValueAct Capital, an investment company that is based in San Francisco. The Ubbens fell in love with Luberon while on vacation, which led them to purchasing the property. Take a look inside the gorgeous domaine.

Minimal bedroom design move over, traditional four-poster beds are back in style. The minimalism trend has had its moment in the spotlight and we are now seeing more traditional designs gain in popularity. A four-poster bed also known as a high bed or canopy bed can be easily spotted as it has a post on each corner of the bed. Because of their design, these beds are often very eye-catching and easily transform a room into a grand suite.
