Outdoor Living: Upper Patio Makeover

January 25, 2021
  • Share

I finally did it! This outdoor patio makeover is something I’ve been meaning to get to for a long time. My upper patio was in need of a transformation. Thanks to Outer, this space has never looked better! I’m in love with their armchairs that have an awesome self covering feature to help protect the outdoor pillows. The chairs are so comfortable and look great with my COCOCOZY rug. Now my outdoor patio is a great place to relax or even work if I’m in need of a change of scenery.

My Small Home Office Makeover

December 11, 2020
  • Share

Today I bring you a small room makeover! Running my own company from home, I need a place to write, strategize, plan and manage every aspect of the business. Command central of sorts! The challenge was finding some place to put an office. I have already decorated almost every inch of my current home! Well after much hemming and hawing, I thought I would try to put the office in this little corner. The space is only 44 inches. I used a desk with a marble top as the centerpiece. This space makeover proves you do not need a lot of square footage to create a functional and good looking space!  A friend of mine said this makeover might inspire a few parents too who are looking for places to set up their kids for the next few months for home school!

My favorite items are the acrylic office wall system – I will make lots of use of the dry erase boards.  I love the functionality and the look. I spend a good part of my days happily working from this pretty little spot at home!

For more home office inspiration check out one of my other posts.

Rustic Cabin Tour

November 4, 2019
  • Share

When I ran across this rustic cabin makeover I knew I had to cover it! This New Hampshire cabin is completely off the grid. Alice Saunder knew immediately once she saw it that it was going to be hers. With the help of her boyfriend, they turned this bare-bones cabin into a sanctuary. It was no easy task. The cabin had no electricity, running water or even cell reception. The end result is simply amazing! It makes me want to go buy a rustic cabin right now.

Guest Bedroom Makeover – Layered Fall

October 8, 2019
  • Share

Doing a guest room makeover has been on my list of things to do for weeks! I recently was approached to do an Instastories partnership with Home Depot for a bedroom makeover. I love the final result so much, I decided to blog about it. This post is not a sponsored post.

Foyer Makeover for a Small Entryway

September 24, 2019
  • Share

A foyer makeover was on my list of things to do for the end of August. I’m thrilled that I finally figured out how to design it. The entryway to my house is small but well defined. The area just ended up a bit forgotten, I never thought of doing anything with it until I partnered with Home Depot. I’m doing a fall refresh for my house and it includes a guest room makeover (coming soon!) and updating my foyer!

NYC Apartment Inspiration

August 13, 2019
  • Share

A perfectly designed NYC apartment is mysterious and exciting. The idea of living in such a populated area and making the most of out what space you can afford is mind-boggling. There are such talented interior designers in NYC that I had an amazing time just exploring images of their work. While not all apartments in NYC are this glamorous, I can’t help but fantasize about these designs. From huge lofts to Parisian chic here are some of my favorites.

Caesarstone Counter Crush –

February 13, 2019
  • Share

Still pinching myself over the House Beautiful article about the COCOCOZY Design House! Now time for more detail about kitchen and bathroom counters. Last year, I showed you my countertop selection.

As you might recall, Caesarstone, one of the COCOCOZY Design House partners, generously supplied all of the counter material for the kitchen and the bathrooms and I am so happy with my picks:  Statuario Maximus for kitchen and Pure White for the master and 2 other bathrooms!

Interior Paint Makeover – Benjamin Moore Bright

February 7, 2019
  • Share
It is all about interior paint today at the COCOCOZY Design House.  This 1930 built Spanish Colonial Revival needed brightening up on the interior so I went with the cleanest brightest Benjamin Moore color I could find.   I used Super White OC-152 throughout the house with dark trim and few spots even boast a wonderful teal color as well that I used on the exterior doors.  Here’s a look on how the remodel project shaped up vis a vis interior paint colors…

Back Balcony Makeover – Cement Tile Shop

  • Share

I had a choice at the COCOCOZY Design House…be safe or be bold. I chose to be bold when it came to the rear balcony of the house. Design house partner Cement Tile Shop helped me take my new found design boldness to a new level. They came on board and provided us with everything we needed for tiling exterior spaces. I used Cement Tile Shop Bordeaux IV pattern in neutral colors on the balcony and front entrance.

You have seen the front walkway several times on Instagram and here on the blog…today, I’m so excited to share with how this outdoor space on the back of the house looks with the new tile.

Linda Grasso’s Kitchen Remodel: An Entertainer’s Dream Come True

July 24, 2018
  • Share

I need to brag about my dear friend Linda Grasso for a second.

Linda is the editor of Los Angeles magazine Ventura Blvd and the host of the SheSez with Linda Grasso podcast. She is a veteran journalist who interviews fascinating women about their bold, innovative, and sometimes badass moves. She and her husband Charlie recently remodeled the kitchen in their fantastic Encino home. They’ve lived in the house for years and have raised their sons there.

A little background, Linda and I go way back. We both worked at E! Entertainment Television, where we became friends after working on a project together. She has since been a fabulous confidant and consistent sounding board over the years! You may remember when she interviewed me on her podcast — which you can catch up on by clicking here.

Anyway, I went over to Linda’s house right before the remodel to have lunch with her and to brainstorm with her about fixtures, counters, the works. I loved her old kitchen… it had a Tuscan or French country feel to it. Linda and Charlie were ready for a change, though. This whole project started as an interior paint refresh, but it turned into a whole new kitchen. Like me, she is an avid cook and entertainer — so I understand her desire to create an inviting place that she’s proud of.

COCOCOZY Design House: Totally TOTO Bathroom Planning

June 24, 2018
  • Share

The planning and renovation phase of the COCOCOZY Design House is in full swing!

As you know, I’m currently in the midst of transforming a beautiful 1860-square-foot Spanish style home in View Park LA (my first ever design house!) — and we’ve meticulously selected a few partners to work with us by providing product.

I was so thrilled when TOTO came on board to supply all bath and plumbing fixtures for the 4 new bathrooms we are creating in the Design House. You heard me… EVERYTHING! That means sinks, faucets, shower heads, toilets, gorgeous tubs, accessories, and all of the fittings and valves. WOW!!

Introducing The COCOCOZY Design House!

June 6, 2018
  • Share

Major life update alert!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you already know that I’ve started my first big COCOCOZY design house project! And now that I’ve got my footing, I want to bring you all along on the journey with me in hopes we can learn a thing or two together!

Basically, I bought this house as an investment property a few months ago in an historic area here in Los Angeles called View Park. The Spanish Style home is 1860 square feet and was built in 1931. It sits on a large, magical lot surrounded by palm trees and birds of paradise. It was 3 bedrooms and 3 baths — but now we are morphing it into a 4 bedroom and 3.5 bath home!

My House: New Breakfast Nook Chandelier

May 1, 2018
  • Share

Happy May! I just made a pretty big update in my breakfast nook. Can you spot it?!

Ok, I’ll just tell you. I recently opted to switch out the chandelier in the nook and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. Sometimes it’s nerve wracking to take the leap on a design switch, but I’m all about following your gut.

Take a look at how my new light fixture changes the feel of the room (below)!

Micro Makeover: Iron Chair Before & After

April 10, 2018
  • Share

Time for another micro makeover!

I found these iron chairs at the Long Beach flea market years and years ago. I can’t remember exactly, but let’s say they were $100 for the pair. They were purple and pretty beaten up, but had great lines.

With a little love and inspiration from my favorite Casamidy, I was able to get these chair living room ready!

Take a look at the transformation (below).

Cabin Mountain Home Kitchen Remodel

February 13, 2018
  • Share

It might be sunny here in California, but I still have winter mountain vibes on my mind!

This Park City Canyons kitchen remodel by Studio McGee is a gorgeous example of how to take an outdated ski home and transform it into a stylish, cozy mountain destination. This isn’t totally my style, but I love the use of traditional warm colors and bright whites to really give this home some life — while still keeping that rustic cabin feel!

Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles an Keep it simple. No need for bells and whistles and fancy things to make your house a home. In this picture, a plant, two chairs I found at the flea market, a layered rug situation and some modern art...de-cluttered space can be equally as inviting as one filled with memories and treasures. If you are stuck with how to decorate, I say keep it simple. Purge and start with the basics. Full disclosure, this is a shot of my living room from a few years ago when I first moved in...I didn’t even have drapes up when this was taken. I have since added pieces and changed out furniture and added a 2nd sofa...but it started super simple and it was lovely back then. When the world is swirling around us and making no sense, how are you keeping things simple at home? #socococozy #bringstylehome #cococozy
Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last Pre-pandemic throw back photo to where I was last year. Clueless as to what was to come. Was in Paris, with my mom, enjoying her summer apartment in the middle of the 6th arrondissement. I had just left the U.K. visiting friends for a few days in London and the Cotswolds. None of us knew that this summer 2020 would be so different. Today, I can only hope this time of tumult and great divides leads somehow to a future of calm and harmony. Going backwards in time is not an option. Pushing forward is. Happy Sunday to you. Where were you last summer? Where do you imagine you’ll be next? Xoxo #socococozy #bringstylehome

Am in my living room right now looking at these pretty flowers in that white urn I found lying around. The urn works (see Flower Power highlights for backstory). Thinking on who I might send one of these bouquets to today as a little act of kindness. Still working on the patience piece of her advice! 🤪 Who might you send flowers to? How can you be more patient with yourself? Happy Saturday!
