Teal bookshelf doubles as an arched secret library door by Peter Pennoyer
A bookshelf doubles as a beautiful arched secret library door in a Maine country home. (above)

If you have been following COCOCOZY over the years, you know I adore the work of renowned New York architect Peter Pennoyer. There was awhile where every month, I was posting images of all of the elegant homes his firm has designed. I’ve spent countless posts wishing that I had enough money to have Peter Pennoyer design a home for me…countless words coveting his work…countless posts trying to refrain from (but not successfully) being jealous of those lucky ones who do in fact have a Peter Pennoyer designed homes.

Well while my wish has not come true yet (of course not), I have gotten one step closer to a Peter Pennoyer home! Just last week (or the week before…no sense of time or day anymore), I got word that The Vendome Press had just published a fabulous new coffee table book called Peter Pennoyer Architects (good title I think…simple…and straight to the point). I was even more thrilled when my copy of the 240 page glossy huge hardcover book arrived on the doorstep of my oh so small and not Peter Pennoyer worthy Hollywood Hills home (thank you Meghan from Vendome).

Anyhoooo, here is a glimpse inside just a small selection of the homes that Pennoyer has built…he calls his style “classicism with a twist”…a perfect description of a style deeply entrenched in the traditional with a willingness to explore modern influences. I’ll be quiet now and let you all enjoy these photos!

Dining room by Peter Pennoyer with light blue walls with decorative moulding, a fireplace, branch inspired crystal chandelier, round table surrounded by white upholstered chairs and black pocket doors

Living room by Peter Pennoyer with decorative moulding, a gold and white chandelier, fireplace with blue and white marble detailing, white armchairs, a taupe sofa, cream are rug, a large coffee table and wood side table
Covered outdoor patio by Peter Pennoyer with columns and an arched entryway and a view of a large body of water

My favorite vignettes from this selection are the first photo of that library door (I’ve always wanted a home with a secret door) and also the chic blue dining room with the black pocket doors.

Anyhooo…thank you to Vendome Press for sharing these images and the book! Thank you Peter Pennoyer architects for these fabulous spaces!

Happy Monday!
